Been listening to The Prince of Broadway cast recording, the show which celebrated the shows Hal Prince has directed, released a couple of days ago. Really, really fun. Especially the overture which is basically a game of "Guess the Musical". Great to have new recordings of some fantastic old-school numbers, some more obscure songs and just getting to hear new versions of classics. So much to enjoy here, but particularly liking Brandon Uranowitz doing Tonight at Eight, Tony Yazbeck doing The Right Girl (completely with massive tap break!), Emily Skinner doing Ladies Who Lunch (this is really fantastic) and she also does this very jazzy version of Now You Know from Merrily, lots of fun. Janet Dacal does a great "Don't Cry For Me...", the only thing sticking out was her pronunciation of Argentina, which was more "Ar-hen-tina". To those who may/would know, would this actually be accurate? I've never, ever heard it sung like that and it was a little jarring every time. The UK's very own Michael Xavier gives a good Music of the Night, too. Recommend!

Nice to have some variety in how these wonderful songs are performed. After the concert at the Palladium being so great a few weeks ago I really have JRB fever at the moment! Loving everything he's doing.

That cast recording has great vocals and orchestration, but everybody is hamming so much that it sounds like a forbidden broadway album imho

Over the last few days I’ve seen several West Enders, including Ben Forster and Killian Donnelly, recommend the new Concept Album of Broken Wings. I gave it a listen on the train to London this morning - it really is very classy indeed. t.co/84LfCC2oEt

Girl from the North Country today. I had written this one off without giving it any attention previously for some stupid reason (probably because its a Juke of Bob Dylan who I'm not a fan of) but on hearing 'Tight Connections' on EP on Sunday I've had to get this and its brilliant so far. Walked past the theatre a few times and now annoyed I've not gone to see it yet. I'm the same, stunning cast recording, I can't fault it. I did try and listen to the original songs but hated them LOL

Just starting listening to the 2018 cast recording of My Fair Lady. Stunning. Lauren Ambrose sounds magnificent. Can't wait to listen to this all evening tonight over tea and cake and pretend I'm at Wimpole Street.

I still listen to the 42nd Street 2018 Cast Recording daily.
Currently, since The Color Purple (Jennifer Hudson) has finally apppeared on Spotify, that has been on repeat.

My body practically went through a momentarily shock when may arm hairs stood up as the orchestra strikes its last bars after "Eliza, where the devil are my slippers?"

Not a cast recording and definitely a little bit niche, I rediscovered a CD in my collection recently called American Brass (on Spotify), the brass section of the LSO from quite a few years ago, playing pieces by Bernstein, Copeland and others. They play Symphonic Suite from West Side Story and the virtuosity of the playing is quite staggering, amazing ranges and dynamics. The finale, Somewhere, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. As I said, a bit niche but worth a listen if you're looking for something a bit different. (and a brass lover like me!)

I'm in a Hamilton mode, again. I've reached the point where I know most of the lyrics and rap along.
That makes me think, I'm able to learn intricate lines by heart (in a foreign language) but back when I was a student wasn't able to memorize sh!t.

I started listening to ‘Heathers’ properly last week in an attempt to show willing, and now I really like lots of it. Parts of it sound an awful lot like ‘Legally Blond’, and there are some gorgeous melodies in with all that bile. Looking forward to seeing something new, somewhere new to me.

The 2018 Carousel is out. Great cast recording of a very bad production. I'm a bit dissatisfied with some choices they made. Renée Flemming is surely great, but there's no need to be so much of her in the recording/production: What's the Use of Wond'ring? is much better when it's sung only by Julie and Chorus, imho. And You'll Never Walk Alone is one of those songs that should be sung straight and simple. I wish they cut the dancing music from "Blow High, Blow Low", it must be great on stage, but makes the song sound scattered in the cd. And I was expecting something more from Lindsay Mendez (whom I loved in Wicked), she sounds a bit like a caricature. But of course we have been spoiled by the renditions of "Mr Snow" of the likes of Audra McDonald, Susan Watson, Bernadette Peters, Barbara Cook, etc. But on the whole it's a very good recording , with two excellent leads and a glorious orchestra.

What's The Use of Wondering is even weirder performed. Renee is up there having an opinion about something, but I don't know what.
Lindsay is a fantastic performer and brings in all the laughs, but I thought she was a bit of a clown. There's a fine line between comic relief and clowning, and I agree with you that she was a caricature of the unattractive funny sidekick.

Listened to the new Broadway cast recording of My Fair Lady, which does sound glorious, but oh my god some of the accents are staggeringly awful. That maid trying to do a Scottish accent? What?!?! Really, really distracted from the cast recording. On the other hand, I adore Spongebob Sqaurepants from beginning to end.
Downloading Carousel as I type - looking forward to hearing the orchestra on that one!

Gosh, the Carousel recording is beautiful.
I’m a little bit floored by how perfect Joshua Henry sounds at the Soliloquy it’s just stunning! Jessie sounds divine too, and I quite like Renee Fleming. The orchestra though on the Carousel Waltz are majestic
