Stumbled upon this one yesterday (after watching some clips of Deaf West Spring Awakening). Just, wow...

I just received my CD of Calendar Girls, but while I'm happy to finally have a recording of this lovely little show I'm a bit gutted that the booklet doesn't contain the full lyrics. A proper nice booklet is basically the main reason left to buy the physical CD for me. Will give it a spin now...

I'm looking forward to this year's cast recordings of the revivals of Carousel, My Fair Lady (both out in June, I'm assuming), and Follies (when will this be out? Summer, too?)

No but the South Pacific and King and I Lincoln Center recordings were both released in June and those shows premiered in April of their respective years. No recordings announced, but they will be undoubtedly be recording!

I'm referring to Lincoln Center's revivals of South Pacific (2008) and The King and I (2015) - both albums released in June of those years, but available obviously now to buy online or wherever... My Fair Lady album was just announced today btw as being released 8 June of this year! Yay!

Something poetically ironic about having the Groundhog Day OBCR on repeat today.

It's basically the Australian Cast (as heard on the DVD) with some tweaks that were added to the score later. It's NOT the cast of the current US-Tour. I haven't listened to it myself but apparently "The Beauty Underneath" now has the final bit from the original "Phantom of the Opera" song, where the Phantom goes "Sing for me!" and it's now Gustave and not Christine doing the warbling.

Really.. As long as they've cut the scream. I really enjoy the song but hate the interrupted ending with that kiddie scream.

Girl from the North Country today. I had written this one off without giving it any attention previously for some stupid reason (probably because its a Juke of Bob Dylan who I'm not a fan of) but on hearing 'Tight Connections' on EP on Sunday I've had to get this and its brilliant so far. Walked past the theatre a few times and now annoyed I've not gone to see it yet.

Oh My. Just listening to Beauty Underneath from this US release. Not a fan. I kind of like the 'Phantom'-title song outro as the intro, although not sure I'm sold on the sampling of Sarah Brightman's voice in it... then it jump cuts into a vastly changed revision of Beauty Underneath, which I really don't like. They've added some new melody that functions as a pre-chorus bridge but sits where a verse would, with the original triplet drum pattern. Its quite an odd arrangement.

Where is this new LOVE NEVER DIES recording? Is it available on Spotify or anywhere digitally? It is one of my favourite ALW scores.

The National Theatre’s A Little Night Music (beyond sublime); the Japanese cast recording of Aspects of Love; Ragtime
And Ragtime is one of a few shows I come back to again and again, without ever tiring of.

I'm listening to Jesus Christ Superstar Live Concert and I love Sara Bareilles' version of "I don't know how to love him" and "Everything's alright".

Lena Hall has this month failed to persuade me that the Cranberries aren't a dreadfully dull band, wholly lacking in excitement and musical ambition.
Revisited Sherie Rene Scott's 'Everyday Rapture', which is mostly well-chosen covers (Supremes, Judy Garland, The Band, Nilsson...) put through a nice pit band, with just enough of a kick. It's rare that anyone else sings Nilsson well enough for me to enjoy, but these are lovely recordings.
There's some wonderful singing on Shoshana's 'Spectrum' LP. Mainly big band music with a bit of glitz. A few big ballads. 'All To Me' is a highlight.

Jamie. Saw it for the first time last night (my Birthday). Was apparently the first night of selling the recording. They are honoured.

I had no idea that this is available on Spotify!
Saw couple Seth Rudetsky's deconstructions (Gavin Creel in "Going Down" and Shoshana Bean in "I believe in love").
