I don't expect this thread to get over long, as the question is quite limited.
just wondering about all those musicals that have been composed by a pop composer/singer, who had hit singles and albums.

Elton John - Lestat
Do jukebox musicals count? When songs were not specifically written for a stage production??

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber mucked around with pop songs before they were successful in musical theatre. Elvis recorded one! Tim Rice went on to work on quite a few chart topping songs as a lyricist. And that was before B&B.
(It was only a Winter's Tale, just another Winter's Tale... Good old David Essex in his fur coat. One of my favourite Christmas songs.)

Billy Joel - Movin Out is a jukebox show, as it uses Billy Joel's back catalogue of songs for its score. And I think Sunny Afternoon, WWRY and The Bodyguard are also jukebox shows. Also, isn't Xanadu a jukebox show as well as it uses the songs from ELO?
