What hold does Jamie Lloyd have over us?! I hated R&J, but FOMO got the better of me and I have booked. I really do hope this is the production that blows us all away... To me, I can forgive one duff production because his work has been stellar like with Sunset Boulevard, The Seagull etc and the star of The Tempest is Sigourney Weaver, how many chances will we get to see her live on stage?

I won’t be booking Tempest, but I think I will end up booking Much Ado.

Reviewing Jamie Lloyd shows I've seen, they hover around three stars until the dire Pitchfork Disney and Sunset Boulevard which both barely deserve even the one stars' worth of enjoyment I awarded. He's very much my idea of how a naked emperor showing off his finery would appear.
But it's Sigourney <insert pejorative participle> Weaver! So, FOMO and all that, I've booked. What a flunkey I am! She better show up.

My credit card has officially waved the white flag thanks to Jamie Lloyd and the BFI, even though I missed out on the Kate Winslet Q+A thanks to the delayed start.

I haven't seen much of his recent stuff, I didn't have the slightest interest in R&J so I have no real aversion to him but yeah Weaver is the main draw.

Surprised at the price of these tickets, some really good seats for decent prices.
Got a ticket for January to double it up with Oedipus with Manville and Strong.

I think Drury Lane being massive means you can get cheaper seats in more places. Will be interesting to see if Much Ado with Tom Hiddleston has faster sales.

Booked, solely for Weaver. As Jon said, how many chances are we going to get to see her?
Apart from being an hour late booking pretty painless. Was 4700ish in the queue, with 9 minute wait.

When it comes to Much Ado, I saw him in Betrayal and her in Measure for Measure, so I’m not too bothered about sitting that one out.

Its a double edged sword with these sort of emails. One side is the potential late receiving but on the counter, getting emails out as close to the time as possible reduces the amount of multiple browsers people have open. Which is worse? No double-edged sword involved. It's possible to send out the email link, well in advance, where the link already includes a unique token for accessing Queue.Id, such that, if you open multiple browsers, even across different devices, you still get the same queue position with Queue.Id. Another site I buy from regularly uses that feature and it works correctly. You can still gain an advantage by registering different email addresses, but this would then require you to have multiple LWT accounts, each with a valid physical address at which the credit card was registered. LW Theatres have a long way to go. And their website was being very glitchy today. I was told my paymemt had failed. It then errored re-attempting, which turned out not to be surprising, as the original had in fact gone through. There were also various errors along the way to contend with that should not have happened if it was coded robustly. Good points mkb that would be they way to sort it out The question is just how much money do LWT and others want to spend on these things. If they can get away with a workaround then its what they are likely to do.

I didn't register, but have just been sent a pre-sale link anyway, and through the queue in about 30 seconds. Looks like I can have my pick of almost any seat in the building on almost every date.
The prices aren't horrible, but there isn't enough there to make me feel I need to book, so I'll hold for now.

I got a stalls seat that I’d have gladly paid more for had they charged more. I reckon Much Ado will fly out given Tom’s involvement. I booked Tempest because I’m a huge sci-fi fan who also happens to be a Shakespeare fan so this hits all the right notes.

Email arrived at 12! I booked a side view stalls seat, hoping for a decent view. Expensive as expected! but no wait at all to get in.

No interest in completing the double bill with Much Ado, so didn't mind paying a few extra bucks for a solid stalls seat to see Sigourney. So begins the anxious 'will they be ill?' waiting game that I always fall into when booking to see a specific performer!

Does anyone have an inkling as to when the Much Ado tickets will go on sale? Also is there supposedly a 3rd JLP Shakespeare on After MAAN?

Hiddleston doing Shakespeare is always a draw with the general public as his reputation is as a Shakespeare guy. Hiddleston doing a Shakespeare *comedy* is going to be a treat for those who have seriously followed his theatre career, and remember how funny he was in Cymbeline, and Coriolanus, and even Hamlet. The man has funny bones and a gift for verse-speaking. It’s hard to go far wrong with Much Ado anyway - the template for all romantic comedies ever after - this combination bodes very well.

I'm undecided whether to also book for Much Ado. I've seen Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell in a few things as I was a peak period Marvel fan. Both are good value, but I've seen good and not so good from both of them. Hayley was great in The Pride (a really good Jamie Lloyd), but I did not like Betrayal. Hiddleston's Coriolanus was good, but his Hamlet less so (I blame Branagh not Tom for that). Dry Powder was mediocre at best, but Hayley really shone in Rosmersholm, which I thought was brill.
So mixed bag for me. I probably will book because I get too much FOMO, but I wish I didn't!

You’re absolutely spot on. I am coming back to see Patti Lupone in Feb so may try to catch Much Ado. It’s not a show I want to see in Lloyd’s usual format. For me it should be lush and colourful. But I also worry about Sigourney’s attendance. I rarely book to see just one performer but she’s such a draw that I couldn’t resist!

So begins the anxious 'will they be ill?' waiting game that I always fall into when booking to see a specific performer! Exactly the same fear that's stopped me pulling the trigger on the purchase button so far...I would only able to do one of the midweek matinee shows in January and I'd be booking solely on the basis of Weaver, if she wasn't performing that afternoon I really couldn't justify the cost of travel/accommodation/ticket.

I went for the 28th Dec matinee to fit in with my birthday trip, so hopefully close enough to her Christmas Day break to have her back on the boards! 😬 Snap! Managed to get the last two £95 seats together in front stalls centre on that show. Not bad considering I didn't see the email, which arrived at 11:52, until 12:02 and was 5,000+ in the queue as a result. Despite the various error glitches, the site performed remarkably fast given the impressive number of concurrent users they were permitting.

That was surprisingly pain-free. Doesn’t seem to have sold like wild fire, although I probably shouldn’t be comparing it to Tennant at the Donmar.
Slightly worried that the very reasonably priced £95 side stalls seats will end up being restricted view. And also that £95 now feels reasonably priced for a west end play.
