This has been mentioned previously in threads about the future of Theatre Royal Drury Lane, but The Stage is now officially reporting that there will be a Jamie Lloyd-directed season of Shakespeare plays at the venue between "Frozen" and "Hercules." www.thestage.co.uk/news/shakespeare-set-to-return-to-theatre-royal-drury-lane"The Stage understands director Jamie Lloyd has been in discussions about staging a season of Shakespeare work at the theatre, although nothing has been confirmed and representatives for the director did not respond to a request for comment. I believe Hiddleston was rumoured to appear. Any other ideas on plays or actors which could feature? |

I would book it for the cast, which I imagine would be typically starry, not him as director as he’s too hit-and-miss.

If the stars have be the attraction I would in vain hope for one of the 37* that is not churned out endlessly

I doubt there’s much clamour for another Hamlet or Lear. But thinking about it I quite liked Pinter at the Pinter, so if it’s in a similar style to that, where other people were directing as well as him, things playing in rep, that could be quite interesting. |

How about Jamie Lloyd for Globe.
Great fit with minimal sets and productions people don’t like.
At least stars would attract sold out performances

The only Shakespeare that would tempt me would be Titus Andronicus. Part of me feels like this would actually be a production JL might tackle as it hasn't been done as a major production for a while. I sort of can't imagine him tackling any of the comedies so have a feeling it will be tragedies and histories. Hiddleston for Iago maybe?

I would imagine the season would allow actors who to do a short run of Shakespeare. I wouldn't be surprised if we see someone like say Florence Pugh make her West End debut or maybe a Jamie Lloyd alumni like Emilia Clarke returning to do theatre.
Daisy Edgar Jones is another possibility, she mentioned at one of the premiere of Twisters that she's returning to theatre soon but hasn't said what.

I just wonder what these plays will mean. I feel like getting Jamie Lloyd to direct one play after another like machine gun fire will produce a series of pretty naff plays.
