I just don't get the under 30 thing. Under 25 maybe, but there are plenty of folk in their 20's with lucrative City jobs and a lot more disposable cash than many people on public sector incomes with families to support, who are in their 40's and 50's, and who will no doubt be asked to fork out £300. I mean it's nice to get a deal but it's surely better to have price bands which are more evenly spread, giving everyone a fairer crack of the whip.

I reckon the 8 weeks between this opening and Frozen closing will be to reconfigure the auditorium to ensure that Lloyd’s trademark aesthetics will play most effectively to that space. I’m going to assume that the stage will be extended or this could play traverse like for The Effect?

This is exciting. Going to be a Dad in the Autumn so unlikely going to be able to see this but hopefully there will be a NT recording.

It was more obscure plays I would look for No chance of an obscure play in such a large venue. I’d guess Tempest again with a film star. I’ve been away and just catching up on email and this forum. Just read an email about priority access and came here to read what everyone was making of it. Your post seems very on the nose! |

It’s not that under-30s generally don’t have money - plenty of them do - it’s that they spend it on other things. This is offering them a special bargain to try and tempt them in. It’s publicity. Of course there are specific under-30s who are already theatre buffs and struggling for many money who will benefit - university students, drama students, struggling actors, those in low-paid entry-level roles who also live in London. Plenty of board members have benefitted from like schemes in the past!! This is not me defending the idea, by the way, just noting that it’s about publicity to position the run as ‘for young people’, not really about those on low incomes. |

Have they ever released photos, or artists’ impressions or architectural drawings of how the flexible and reconfigured auditorium might potentially look? I’ve done an online search but haven’t been able to find any.

Sigourney Weaver’s quite an exciting name to have attached. Someone that I’d never expect to have a chance to see, and a bit outside the (plywood) box for Lloyd.

It’s the biggest & most rewarding job you’ll ever have x (and Weaver is a big deal for me, so I might be tempted by this. I’d need to be close though which I assume would involve organ selling levels of cost!). |

I agree but the public sector comment is not relevant, median full-time pay in the public sector is 8% higher than in the private sector so there are people in both sectors who can’t afford the prices. I’m not much taken with key-worker discounts either. It would be fairer if they means-tested it in some way - students and unwaged for example which some theatres do. |

I'm just bitter about the under 30 stuff as that wasn't a thing when I was under 30 ha. We did get A Night Less Ordinary though (which is what got me into being the theatre addict I am now).

I'm a teacher but whether or not that is classed as a 'key worker' seems a bit blurry on their website. I'm assuming it's not, although it does say 'specialist teacher.'

That's not realistic, costs have gone up but also it's commercial theatre, the aim is to at least recoup if not make a profit. |

Signed up for the presale (hoping that covers every Jamie Lloyd production including the Broadway Godot but I’m not getting too excited about productions not due to start for another year) but I’m going to aim to book The Tempest on Tuesday over the other one mainly because I’ve already seen Hiddleston in Hamlet but come on: Sigourney Weaver!
