There was talk of a film adaptation with Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep, as the Old Lady. I take it this might be a film capture of the production? That there was. Don't know about Streeps involvement. Gyllenhaal was at the BFI Southbank a couple of years back promoted his latest film and when they opened the forum to the public I asked him if we's see him singing on film soon and he answered that they were hoping to make a film of it. Excellent question - my mind goes blank at those sort of events. I knew I'd read about it somewhere recently: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/sunday-in-the-park-with-george-james-lapine-movie-jake-gyllenhaal-meryl-streep-1234989639/

I really can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the new book. Very jealous of all the people that seem to have a copy already. I didn’t think it was out until September.

I popped into my local bookshop on Saturday to order a copy for September and they could get it in before. It was a lovely surprise. I don't know where you live or if they deliver but it's worth a try as always good to support an independent business - its what George would want! burleyfisherbooks.com/

WoS teasing about this on socials. Is there an announcement imminent? They are? Don't see anything. Edit: I wouldn't say this is teasing an announcement.

When I saw it the other day I read that as just wishful thinking rather than a tease or hint.

I loved him in TTB, but I didnt hear a voice that made me think he could handle SITPWG. Yes, Sondheim songs are great for actors, but they also have to be able to sing them well. Fingers crossed that Jake gets back to London before Andrew Garfield brings a production in.

He's a good singer and strong actor but everything I've seen him do has been full on. George is a really refined character that I can't see Garfield not hamming up. Let us get JG first then anyones welcome to have at it, imo.

I wish they’d just give us a yes or no at this point, if this was still ever happening.

I got my refund ages ago for this. For those still waiting, have you asked for it back?

ATG issued credit vouchers with an email saying previous bookers would be first to hear when new dates were found, then repeated that message and extended the vouchers to the end of 2022. They said that they could also be used for other ATG shows. So I guess they haven't properly admitted that it isn't happening, but even then they'll probably just say Why not book something else.
