Well Andy Nyman is so fantastic and underrated. Mr Barnaby is such a tease... M? Michael Ball Matt Henry Mr Barnaby Matthew Croke Matthew Seadon-Young Michael Xavier Matthew Goodgame ? Michael Ball is doing the Les Mis Arena Tour so he won't be available and also too old for Leo. Matt Henry also unavailable due to him being in The Devil's Wears Prada. Someone who is a Menier alumni and was in two of their shows, Mark Umbers.

Mr Barnaby said "talented". I'm hoping for Mark Umbers. He did She Loves Me, Sweet Charity and Merrily at the Menier and we see far too little of him.

I didn't think I'd ever seen Andy Nyman in anything, but it turns out he was Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof at the Playhouse. And I saw Zizi Strallen in Mary Poppins. Didn't take to either of them, so I might be giving The Producers a miss.

Andy Nyman's Guiteau in "Assassins" was hands down one of the greatest live stage performances I've ever seen... and he's having a ball in "Hello, Dolly!" currently, so somewhere between those two roles I think he'll be a brilliant Max

I’d put money on it being Matt Lucas.

I’d put money on it being Matt Lucas. Then I'm DEFINITELY not going!

Matt Lucas was dreadful in Me and My Girl, sadly he isn’t a leading man, although he wasn’t bad as Thernadier in Les Miserable which isn’t a leading performer.

He was surprisingly good as Kenneth Halliwell in the stage adaptation of Pr**k Up Your Ears in 2009, until he had to withdraw from that - but of course, that wasn't a musical.

Matt Lucas in Me and my Girl is to this day one of the worst performances I've ever seen in a musical. Mind you that whole production wasn't the best (a brunette Jacqueline singing about being blonde?)
He wasn't much better in Les Mis. But at least that is a small supporting role.

It’s not Matt Lucas. Someone younger .. dark hair… Is it david? Would fit with the earlier clue about being one of 'our' most talented musical performers. 🙂

This would be a result, loved him in Big Fish. TBH anyone on the planet would be a huge improvement on Joe Pasquale, who I had the great misfortune of seeing as Bloom on the UK tour in 2007.

Always found it interesting that Leo seems to be the role traditionally cast as a stand-up, when I feel like he's written as the more traditional MT role and Max is a way bigger comic role
PS, sincerely hope it's MSY - he's been utterly brilliant in every role I've ever seen him
