Look I don't know the structure of this place but I never understood why there wasn't a separate entrance for the theatre, rather than having to walk through the restaurant to do so.

I guess having to walk past all the diners to get to the theatre would tempt you too book dining in the future…
Don’t think they’ve had a transfer since Fiddler. Can’t see bakers wife having more life

There is another entrance to the theatre, which goes past the owners office, so the theatre can have its own entrance. It is kind of tacky if you’re eating - having guests walk past you. I heard the restaurant is going to reopen but will be operated by a third party.
I just think the Menier as a production company has out grown the venue. They should look to move to somewhere bigger about 250 seats, with comfortable seating, no pillars, more wing/fly space, decent toilets. I am also not convinced of the safety of the venue if there was a fire.

I am also not convinced of the safety of the venue if there was a fire. When I saw Pacific Overtures I was laughing because it appeared like a Weatherspoons then opened into the simplistic, minimalistic museum set with guests walking about and such. Not to say that's a bad thing, and that has its charm for me, but the place wasn't looking top notch. I suppose if you're trying to produce serious, appearing like you're at the back of a pub doesn't look the greatest.

I knew Patrick Marber was involved in early Alan Partridge stuff, so wasn’t concerned about him not getting the comedy. But just looked at his Wikipedia and realised I’ve seen two shows he directed/wrote… Don Juan in Soho and Exit the King. Oh dear. Did not like either of them, and I’m usually pretty easily pleased.
Lack of set doesn’t concern me at all. I saw the Royal Exchange production and it was one of the best things I’ve seen there, though looking at the clips on YouTube it cold have done with a bigger band.

It's not Marber's directing that is the issue, it's the fact a musical is a very different beast to a play.

I'd really like to see The Producers, but not with any of the potential cast members mentioned here.

I really hope the rumour from before of Jon Richardson as Leo is true as I’d love to see that.

Jon Richardson would be great stunt casting. No thanks. I hope as it's the Menier they go for proper MT stars for this.

Omid Djalili would have been a great Bialystock if he wasn’t already on tour then.

That artwork is very basic.

Yea, looks like temporary art!
Although, I wonder if this will be a gritty new reinterpretation set in some Eastern European country with a struggling theatre district and maybe it'll be immersive or something something.

At first I thought it was basic, but it's growing on me. It's relevant for the show. Maybe add some cast images at a later date

It’s supposed to be the writing of a script cover? That’s what I got from it.

I actually like the logo/art… simple… but doesn’t scream comedy. Maybe that’s a good thing!
