I can't decide that either. It was certainly a terribly-kept secret, given most if not all of the 2019 tour venues have already had tickets on sale for weeks.

Any tips on seating at the Alexandra? Never been there and the prices seem fairly reasonable but don't want to be stung!

Basically, outside the first couple of rows, your view will be horrible in the flat section. Go for front rows, raised stalls or circle or even circle slips as they are close to the stage and cheaper.

As the front 2 rows aren't on sale that's awkward. Not sure whether to book row B in the hope the front 2 rows are being removed or to hang on & see if the front 2 rows appear...

Reviving an old thread.. currently at PPGW at Alexandra Palace, 15 minutes after the show should have started (2.45) we were told that someone has been taken ill and an understudy is having to come in "from another show" and they are due to start at 3.15pm.

It'll be interesting to see who turns up and in what role!

Matt Cavendish was there the other day as an emergency cover for the role of Max.

I'm here too (stalls B10 if you want to say hi). I spotted Fred Gray legging it across the East Court a few minutes ago so I guess that answers who today's emergency cover is! Though not the role. I've already seen him cover Max 2 weeks ago but he did cover several roles when he was in the show so could be a different one today.

ETA Fred is playing Max. Tom Babbage, who should have been playing Max, has switched to play Chris. I've now seen him 2nd cover both Jonathan & Chris but have yet to actually manage to see him as Max!

Sorry, didn't see your message saying you were there until we were leaving, else I'd have nipped down to say hello.

The show overall felt somewhat flat, whether this is due to the cast, the 45 minute delay, the three understudies as a mixture with the regular cast or the venue being so long I am not sure. Still a good performance, because of the quality of the production, however this won't go down as a highlight for me with PPGW.

I enjoyed it but a) I was in the front row & b) I enjoy seeing understudies! I only wish I could have seen this evening's performance too, as Chris Leask was going to be playing Trevor!

Just seen this in Woking. A tiny part of me was worried that not having the original cast it would be missing something. I needn't have worried. As with all Mischief shows, I emerged with aching sides, delirious from the amount I laughed. I remembered parts of it from the BBC version, so things like the shock of them ending up in their pants wasn't quite the huge laugh it should have been, but aside from that, a triumph, especially the chaos with the revolving stage, how they do that every night I do not know. Special mention to the chap playing the director/Hook, every little look he did got a laugh, didn't buy a programme so I didn't get the names but they were astonishingly good, stars of the future for sure.

Looking forward to seeing this at Storyhouse in Chester next week. (By a nice coincidence their Christmas show this year was a new version of Peter Pan.)

Does this have stuff going on pre-show?

I think that would have been Tom Babbage. He's supposed to be playing Max but owing to various injuries to other cast members is currently playing Chris instead (at least that's the last I heard, assuming no-one else has got injured or ill!). I saw this in Chester yesterday, having only seen it once before in London 3 years ago. I had forgotten how funny it was, and the cast are fantastic. I could name all the cast as highlights as they were all brilliant, but I will go with my 4 favourites. George Haynes as Chris was brilliant - this is now the third Mischief show I have seen him in, and enjoyed him in all of them. It was certainly interesting to see him in a role which is completely different to his roles I have seen him in Groan Ups and TPTGW. Tom Babbage is so adorable as Max, he had the audience on his side immediately, and his constant grins to the crowd were very funny. Also, him and Romayne Andrews as mermaids was hilarious. Ethan Moorhouse was great as Trevor, I really enjoyed his glances to the crowd when he came on, and his brief stint as Peter was very funny. Finally, Patrick Warner, who is one of my favourite Chris Beans in TPTGW was fantastic as Francis. A particular highlight was him impersonating a cat, and then performing Jellicle Cats.

2020.05 - Peter Pan Goes Wrong - Festival

A production of Peter Pan goes wrong, from collapsing scenery to failing flying via sound issues and personal problems.

It does what it says on the tin - if you like this sort of thing then it’s a very enjoyable show.

If however you are a miserable git like me then you'll spend a lot of time afterwards thinking that this would be so much better as a 75 minute one act show. There are only so many ways that someone getting hit on the head or the flying going wrong can be presented without it becoming tiresome (see the car horn joke in particular which is run into the ground then taken outside for an endurance marathon and then run into the ground some more).

Despite that its very very entertaining and does what it sets out to do, in general its actually funny. The main plot of a production going hideously wrong and the cast and crew trying to make it through to the end does raise plenty of laughs and everyone seemed to be having a very nice time.

For me there are issues with the pacing and, as noted, the repetition of scenarios but it does hold the attention of an audience well and the cast are all doing a grand job in their variety of roles. Of course most of the cast in this play are playing actors who are playing a role within a play and owing to good casting you can see clear water between the part of the "actor" and the role within the play.

Its just you cant help but feel that the second act does descend into panto to pad out the running time.

An enjoyably flawed 7/10.

I heard October this year being thrown around as a starting date.

I reckon so, they'll have just done the Broadway run, which ends in July giving them a month of holiday before going back into it. It wouldn't make much sense to rehearse a whole new cast in when they have one ready to go... Also they can market it as "original cast returns" like they did with TPTGW last year which did very well.
On the other hand, Nancy Zamit hinted in a recent interview that they've got various other upcoming new projects so they might be doing those instead.

Much as I’d like it, I can’t see them doing it personally. The tour goes on over six months or so. Maybe a couple of venues, like with PlayTGW, but that was an anniversary I think.

True, it is a long commitment. Last year was the anniversary but the actual day was in December so iirc they didn't use that in the publicity. This year is actually the 10-year anniversary for PPGW (1st performance on 10th December 2013) so I wonder if they will do a couple of venues like you say, maybe over Christmas?

The cast doing Broadway are now going on to Los Angeles afterwards. While technically they could still do the UK tour, as the dates don't overlap, it wouldn't give them much time off in between. Personally I'm not getting any hopes up for them doing it.
