The massive medley of EVERY SINGLE SONG at the end was not needed and felt like filler because act 2 was shorter than act 1. Whilst I agree that it wasn't necessarily needed I did rather enjoy the medley part. I felt it fitted well with the feel of this production and really added to the atmosphere, though a medley of a couple of songs might have worked just as well/if not better. |

Yes I agree that the megamix at the end was too long, but fitted with the the feel of this production and was a nice bit of fun.
Reading my review back next to everyone else's make me realise how much I was willing to look over the low quality aspects of this production just because it was such a feel-good show and I came out of it on such a high. I felt I just about got value for money with my £38 front row ticket, but I wouldn't want to pay any more than that for this production. There were indeed a lot of elements that felt cheap or tacky.

The only problem I had with the mega mix was that they seemed to turn the mics up so much it was almost chipmunk like!
I did see Rebecca Stenhouse as Elle and she was fantastic, lovely clear voice and seemed so comfortable with the role.

So, Just to even out this page slightly - it seems that many hundreds of regular theatre goers certainly do not share the same sentiments as some of the comments above.
Whilst I respect that everyone is entitled to the their 'own' opinion ( i was once told that unless you had something good to say, keep it to yourself).... I would rather form an opinion on whether or not to go and see a show on the thousands of comments being posted on the show's twitter page, as below:

Brilliant show again as brilliant as the fist time when I was in the West End..........
.......the comments go on and on, about the actors, singers, dancers, production etc in such raving reviews, not to mention the 4/5 star reviews the show has been receiving so far from its opening 4 venues.
I think Id rather be influenced by such comments rather than a choice few who I really don't understand why they even bother going to the 'support' the arts if all they do is sit there and moan, and moan, and moan....... ZZZzzzzz.....
Yes, indeed having seen this production, it is different to other productions ( & why not, I don't want to see the same show repeated over and over), with new fresh ideas and approaches to Choreography, costume, sets, lighting and so on, and it is quite REFRESHING! It is great fun, not too serious, full of very talented actors, singers, dancers and musicians, and I too would give it 4/5 stars with the hope it one day transfers!!

You make a valid point, but it's been said before on this forum that people tend to post positive opinions of shows on twitter but not negative ones. People who disliked something or felt ambivalent about it aren't as likely to jump straight on Twitter to say so as those who respond more positively. On here, we tend to get a mix of opinions and people being honest about both positive and negative aspects of shows, so in that sense it's more representative, it's just that criticism tends to stand out more than praise on this forum because it often sparks more discussion.

If all I see is a stream of positive Twitter comments, I'm unlikely to see a show. It feels like shilling, especially if they've all been retweeted by a theatre/production's official account. Blanket positivity is about the most untrustworthy thing to me. If I'm buying, say, a new pair of headphones, I'm going for the ones with an average 4.5 star rating, because the dissension lends authenticity. I'd honestly rather know what something's flaws are considered to be, because then I can make an informed decision. "WOW FIVE STARS 10 OUT OF 10 SO GOOD" doesn't really tell me a goddamned thing. Give me proper discussion with specifics any day!

I moan about enough stuff already, so when I’ve spent only £25 on an early booking seat in the front row, I would feel churlish to moan about the really cheap looking set and costumes. The performances and energy of the piece were more than enough to lift it all above that.

I make a conscious choice not to be negative about things on twitter because you’re sending those thoughts directly AT someone in their feed which is a whole lot of different from posting criticisms on TheatreBoard and the people involved coming looking for them.
This forum encourages negative and positive comments. It’s not supposed to be a fan club, but equally I don’t agree that it’s overwhelmingly negative. On the whole I think it’s quite balanced, unless the show in question is a complete turkey and even those usually get a bit of love.

Same here. I feel like I can only be positive on twitter and anything negative I say would come across as rude to the actors, equally it doesn't spark discussion only replies telling you that you're wrong etc. Theatreboard I feel you can be truly honest and post what you feel, 90% of the time it is positive but if it happens to be negative it usually starts a discussion on why you feel that/what you'd change and how others felt about it. Whilst I did really enjoy Legally Blonde (I paid it a repeat visit) I know it wasn't a faultless production, had I just seen positive reviews on twitter I probably would have had a more negative outlook on the show as my expectations would have been much higher. |

Is Elle supposed to be channeling Adore Delano with that hair. And could the costume designers not have gone somewhere more upmarket for Elle's costumes...last May's Vogue, or last May's sales rack in Primark??? |

I caught the start of this tour in Bromley and I enjoyed it. I am usually very critical but I found this frothy, fun, well performed and staged. It's not Sondheim, but it does what it says on the tin. It benefits from having a fabulously sung Elle by Lucie Jones.
Just sometimes with musical theatre (as long as it is not shockingly bad) it is good to leave your critical faculties at the door and just enjoy.
I thought the production values for a tour were pretty good. I have seen far worse!
But obviously, Follies at the NT it aint!

The wigs, costumes and set all look like they are from different shows, thrown together for this production. It doesn't work well, just looks cheap and tacky. Not at all Elle Woods. The cast seem great though.

Saw this in Cardiff last night and just loved it! Lucie was note perfect as Elle and I thought played the comedy really well!
As others have said, Rita was a very pleasant surprise as Paulette. Great comic timing and who knew she could sing like that! A real grit to her voice she was fab!
I thought the direction was great and everyone left with a huge smile on their face. Ridiculous megamix but lots of fun!
Standing ovation but no surprise there for a welsh girl in Cardiff! Thouroghly well deserved though. See it if you can.

This is such a random venue. The INEC isn't even really a theatre, but it's far closer than Dublin, so I guess I'll be seeing the show there instead!

VERY random, its a convention centre attached to a hotel, its not a theatre. It doesnt have any fly system or an orchestra pit. Its not a regional touring venue. It holds events like road safety campaigns or conferences and small concerts and its sometimes used as a restaurant but it never holds theatre shows. They obviously have a way around the no fly system dilemma. Very random though

Actually I was CM on a tour that went there years ago! Though its very random, its a great place and the apartments that we stayed in were awesome! Was a great great week!

The Orchestra will be on remote, from another nearby room (as they were in Bristol as the pit was down for Maintenance).
It may not be the last venue either...
