Wish they would do The Hunchback of Notre Dame instead. I think that would have much broader appeal and the La Jolla Playhouse production that went on to the Papermill Playhouse was wonderful! I disagree on both tbh. Don't get me wrong, I love hunchback, but it won't have as wide appeal as the more upbeat family friendly hercule. As someone said earlier, Hercules will also be a kids show that will appeal to more boys. Which the west end is lacking. I also didn't rate the papermill production. The framing concept didn't work and it felt very cramped on that stage. Hunchback needs a more epic staging

Might this be one of BGT performances this week? They've had frozen and the lion king already this week. Could the announcement be made on BGT? Would be a good way to get some buzz and let millions know via national tv.

Unless they do the final (which I doubt) they won't be in as it was announced last night that Alisia is singing on Friday night.

Looking forward to this! I wore the soundtrack out in the '90s. My first introduction to LaChanze and Lillias White (two of the original muses). I remember Michael Bolton had a modest hit with Go the Distance too. It was nominated for an Oscar but was up against My Heart Will Go On, so obviously didn't stand a chance!

At the time this movie was released I was backpacking through America. I travelled the East and West coast.
I was in San Francisco and remember there was some grassy square with a Disney Store at the end and walking in (I love Disney) and there on big screens in the store was Michael Bolton singing Go The Distance.
By the time I got to Disney World in Florida, as Hercules was the latest release, that was the main focus of the parades.
I finally saw the film in Seattle, from the back row with the screen in front me!
I also remember various museums displaying Roman earthenware and they were pointing out Hercules in the imprints on the pottery.

Go The Distance is arguably one of the strongest Disney ballads of all time It's the only song I recognised looking at the soundtrack. Has any other track been a hit?

Yeah zero to hero is pretty big.
I won't say I'm in love a little less so, but not by much.
It's full of disney classic songs tbh

Boyzone had a hit with Shooting Star didn't they?
I know Zero to Hero and I Won't Say I'm in Love well, but that's because we had the Disney Sing-Along Songs tapes!

Is this more of a younger person's musical? I don't know any of the songs and, to be honest, didn't even know that Disney had made a film of it.

Well, not as young as Frozen. Under 40s probably? It came out in 1997, between The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan.

Absolutely delighted to still be considered a young person at 34 if so! It’s genuinely in my top five Disney.

Back in the days of singles... and two songs good enough to warrant a double A side! I must admit, I remember absolutely no songs from the film. But I did last watch it maybe 10 years ago.

I reckon this will be as popular as Prince of Egypt. I see it. Like Prince of Egypt, we'll see whether those revisions it needs can save the show.
