ENO are due to announce their new season next Wednesday (15th May).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could include?

I couldn't guess. Any new work would be fantastic.
An unlikely pick, but The Shining would be cool. I really liked the recording of that when it came out a month back. It seems to be a popular one to stage in America right now.
I think it's the Mikado for the next G&S to be revived again? Last time that was on was 8 years ago I believe. Unless they do Pirates, or Yeoman.
That said, a new G&S production would be great too!

Maybe Pirates is more likely to be up next then.

They did do The Mikado pretty often. Checking my list, I saw it in 2008, 2011 and 2013 as well as 2019 so that would have been 5 runs in the dozen years before the pandemic. I'd guess the gap from 2019 to now could be the longest in the production's history.

Iolanthe last year I was really sad when I was seeing empty seats.

I'd love to see John Adams' Doctor Atomic, as I don't think that's ever had a revival since is 2009 UK premiere. I've no idea why. Given the conventionality of the ROH season it would be nice to have a couple of rarities in there too.

I'd still love to see a revival of Lost Highway, which was premiered outside the Coliseum and instead at the Young Vic.
For a show with such cool multimedia aspects to it, I'm surprised it's not come back in recent times.

I feel like some the silliness that production had overshadowed the work itself, but it definitely was still a fun night. I've seen better.

I believe they are doing Rigoletto, Pirates of Penzance, La Boheme and (if I heard correctly) Turn of the Screw. Can’t remember the others!

It will be interesting to see if his 'Widow' is merry or not

Never having been to Glyndebourne, I don't really have to try to avoid his Merry Widow.

www.eno.org/Here it is. All very familiar, I'm afraid, with one rarity: Thea Musgrave's Mary, Queen of Scots.

Strange they’re offering Suor Angelica on its own. Won’t be going as it’s my least favourite of Il Trittico. I too am interested in Elixir. Pleased they’re bringing back Rigoletto - it’s now common place to set an opera in a different time period but this was one of the first and it’s never been done better. Glad they’re also reviving Miller’s Boheme - a very handsome production.

Unless I'm missing something, the season seems to finish on 22nd February. I know ENO's seasons have been getting shorter but the second part of the season being only a month long is ridiculous!

I’m excited for THE TURN OF THE SCREW. A Britten opera that I have always wanted to see. I will definitely be booking it.
The MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS also sounds interesting.
Other than that, I find it another pretty dull season as per the ROH.

Probably, but it's depressing that it's now preferable for them to rent out the Coliseum for more months of the year than they will be occupying it.

Do we know what the Coliseum's future post-Manchester?
I'm guessing it'll still be owned by the ENO, but it'll probably be used as another West End theatre and just host transfers, right?
I'm not caught up with all that. But that'd be sad.
