In this weeks press release,it mentioned an announcement regarding Manchester seasons was coming later this year. I suspect we'll here more about the Coli then.
I still wonder if they'll ever go go Manchester regardless of if Labour come to power.

Wow this is boring. (Turn of the Screw.) Projections galore. Fairly bland flats wheeled around like Charing Cross Rebecca, creaking as they go. The ENO really must be skint. EDIT: Finished it. I mean, great singing and orchestra as always, but utterly baffling direction and reinterpretation of the play as her being sent to a mental asylum? I thought the point was that the Housekeeper was backing her up? Shockingly underwhelming.

I remember reading a review Is it all one set with a bed in the middle

It's a new staging by director Isabella Bywater. Is it all one set with a bed in the middle Sort of, behind it's a static stage of a ward of a mental institution with two beds, with a wall in front that moves back and forth and some set dressing brought on and off in front. There's no set changes or anything throughout, it basically just has a single wall moving back and forth to show scene changes and projections whenever they're outside or in the house.
Thought it all looked very am dram and literally anytime the wall in front moved it made awful creaking noises. As said before reminded me a lot of Charing Cross Rebecca which isn't the greatest thing. Actors portraying the children, groundskeeper, Quint and Jessel all wear manor clothes and most of the staging represents the manor as well as all the projections of trees and outdoors so why set it in an institution? Serves to make no sense and only confuses the story. I wonder if I'm missing something because I really wanted to enjoy this as this is a work I hold close to my heart.
Made me yearn for the glorious Regent's Park version and set.

I didn't realize this was opening night for this production. Guess it would explain all the people in suits on stage at the end. Will wait for reviews to see what the general opinion is but people were complaining on the way out. Not the best start to this season.

I am sorry you are disappointed I stopped going to the ENO years ago They just aren’t willing to invest in good stagings sadly Can’t afford to Even the ROH is hit and miss The current appalling Onegin But there are some grand and wonderful productions remaining there
