this is a repeat I'm afraid, and covers such a narrow, narrow range of musicals. Very disappointing. It felt as if they had been given some free clips and have tried to build a programme round those clips.

I think it's only been on More4, not C4. I quite enjoyed it. Certainly not comprehensive but I thought PO'G an engaging host and more opinionated than most voiceovers. Not appointment to view TV but good viewing for a damp Sunday afternoon.

Just caught up with this and rather enjoyed it... Paul O'Grady's passion for musicals came across, and I liked some of the commentaries and stories from some of the guests. So many omissions, yes, but it allowed for a more in-depth visit to each piece covered. Nice to see Lara Pulver talking, along with Bonnie Langford, Beverley Knight and Arlene Phillips. James Cordon, however, seems desperately insincere, and you get the impression he's taking the piss most of the time. Bob Fosse giving direction on the set of Cabaret with fag balanced on bottom lip throughout was a treat; whereas seeing Michael York (one of my many teenage heart-throbs) as he is now was not.  Worth a watch, I reckon. |

I did a !!! at Michael York, who I mistook at first for George Burns. The programme was entertaining enough but I expected it to be better researched. Compared to the Julie Andrews' series on the history of the musical, it was poor.
