Hi, do you know if there are any offers/ on this show for this weekend in Manchester. Thank you in advance. Not aware of any at all despite very poor sales. Was there last night. Not even a quarter full. Very quiet. Clearly affected the performances I was thinking of going last night but when I saw how empty the theatre would be i was put off as I guessed it might create a poor atmosphere. Were all levels open or did they move people? Can't believe there's no offers given the poor sales

Could have been better with a bigger house

I was there tonight. The stalls and circle were open, both no more than a third full (if that), while the gallery was closed. I've never seen the Opera House so deserted - three of us had the Phantom Bar in the Circle to ourselves 30 minutes before the show was due to start by which time it would usually be heaving!
Despite the lack of numbers, it was the worst behaved audience I've experienced for a while. Relentless sweet rustling, checking phones, talking, stamping feet (out of time) to the music - never mind a note from Linda or a note from Grandma, there were almost a few notes being handed out from me, offering friendly advice on theatre etiquette! At least there was no shortage of empty seats to move to at the interval...
As for the show, I liked the songs and enjoyed the performances of Cassie Compton, Jon Robyns and Tara Verloop (would never know she's only recently taken over from Roxanne Pallett, she was great and seemed very assured as Holly). I certainly didn't feel like there was anything less than 100% commitment from the cast despite the sparse ticket sales. The problem for me was that I found many of the gags in the dialogue were pretty unfunny, while Ray Quinn shouting every line was a bit bizarre.
Despite a few negatives, the upbeat score, Nick Winston's excellent choreography and strong lead performances ensured the evening was still enjoyable enough. I'm tempted to give The Wedding Singer a second chance in Liverpool in a fortnight.
3 stars.

Went tonight on a travel zoo offer .... so glad it only cost me £12 else I'd have felt cheated ... upper circle closed so got moved to dress circle ... which was les than 1/4full stalls were not much fuller ... Can't fault the cast and there enthusiasm and great voices the set too did its job and production values were pretty good But I just felt it was a bad musical pursae.... the songs were forgettable and lyrics so difficult to dissifer... and one or 2 scenes just wrong or unnecessary.... I cringed at the Linda bed scene in the second half ! I'm no prude but felt it was misjudged They should have like the film used the 80s soundtrack and dropped the price of tickets they went up to £52 ! Ticket sales are just as poor for the whole week .... drop the price fill the house the cast have a much better time so does the audience My partner fell asleep and some left at the interval .... but on balance around 10 out of the 50 or so in the circle gave a standing ovation and my friends in the stalls said around 20 out of the couple of hundred got up dancing and clapping .... so some people clearly enjoyed it

Saw it again last night. Very undersold and the atmosphere suffered for it. I enjoyed it alright but not as much as when I saw it last time in Dartford. Two of my friends hated it!
Jon Robyns gives the stand out performance and really carried the show very well, with Ray Quin also providing a lot of entertainment. Overall it felt a bit flat for some reason. Disappointed as I came out grinning last time. Still enjoyed some elements though, including the fun choreo.
There were probably not more that 100 people in the upper and the dress was empty too so I was surprised we weren't moved forward. Shame as if we were all packed in together we might have felt the party atmosphere a bit more. Asked on the off chance if we could move down from the upper for act two but our request was declined. Never mind.

Stephanie Clift, who recently played Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, is set to play Holly for the next 2 weeks and then for the rest of the tour after Lucie has done her stint

I saw The Wedding Singer today at the matinee at Bromley from the front row of the stalls. Despite a strong cast working hard, I found the first act failed to engage me. The audience was very sparse and, something I cannot ever remember before at a musical, two of the songs in the middle of the first act, albeit both rather low key numbers, ended with total silence from the audience which must be very dispiriting for the actors. But things improved after a rather long interval and I thoroughly enjoyed the second half. The audience woke up and by the end there was a strong response at the finale. I asked two of the theatre staff afterwards if everybody was on and I was told they were, but whoever was playing Julia didn't look at all like the picture of Cassie Compton in the programme. Maybe it's just me, but I thought she was the least effective of the main females. Does anybody know whether Cassie Compton was scheduled to play this afternoon's performance?

Thanks stageyninja83. Did I misunderstand the lack of applause after those numbers in the first act? Was the silence meant somehow as a tribute because the songs had been quite effective in their dramatic context? I was ready to applaud but refrained from doing so when I realised I would have been clapping on my own.

I think it was just a really quiet audience and because it was so empty even when people did applaud it was very quiet. Odd atmosphere, especially for such a fun show.

Thanks again. The show won me over in the second half and I was glad I made the effort to get to Bromley to see it, mainly to enjoy the performances of the talented cast but, as has been noted before, it must be disheartening for the performers to get so little response from small audiences for such an energetic show.

Goodbye to one of my current faves! 3 times and out for me, at the first venue of Leicester back in Feb, Sheffield in August and one last time at the final venue of Wolverhampton. Squeezed in my final visit at the 5pm today and left humming the songs like usual. Will be missed!
Ive seen two Robbies, Jon Robyns has been one of my favourite performers since Avenue Q and I’ve managed to see all 3 Holly’s and Steph Clift may well be my favourite although I was waiting for suddenly Seymour all the way through after seeing little shop last year! And Id like to take this moment to declare I am a little bit in love with Cassie Compton 😍.
Goodbye Wedding Singer! Now what will be my next favourite?!

Loved this tour so happy to be able to see it again, however sceptical about the casting.
Also what’s happened to the troubadour white city? Nothing announced since Peter Pan closed early. Everything just seems to go to Wembley:

Hmmm...really want to see this with the prices being so cheap and not having seen it before, but the Troubadour is a bit of a barn and doesn’t seem like a great venue for MT.

With dynamic pricing on the website for Fame they ended up with some very well priced seats near the front (and where you could choose where you sit).

I’ve been mulling over buying tickets all day, but every time I checked on TodayTix I wondered if there’d be a better deal. Think I’ll hold off now and try next week.
