I wonder if this means that all the team who havent been paid yet will finally get paid ...? Even if you're involved in the production, a forum like this isn't the place to air grievances. It's public, remember!

It's public, remember! Ooft, bad take. Theatre producers should not be putting on productions if they can not afford to pay people for said productions. I’ll happily say that publicly.

Sorry to see this go. Means I won’t get a chance to see it.
It’s a shame productions based on little known entities and without “name” casting don’t really stand a chance in the West End these days.
(Yes I know very occasionally things fly. But vast majority don’t).
I do like Wildhorn. At least he can write a hummable tune. (Cf. the slew of new musicals that open on Broadway which are bland music central IMHO).

Nipped back to see this last night in a rather full theatre. I didn't choose my seat on this occasion, but I was in the front row of the Dress Circle, which is a perfect view and I saw things I hadn't realised were happening when I was in the Stalls. This is one of those theatres that has both a Dress Circle and a Royal Circle, for a bit of extra confusion.
Jojo Meredith was on as Kosei. Very happy I got to see him. He's one of those people who always catches your eye in the ensemble and I hadn't realised he was the cover. Very easy to fall in love with and you can see why Kaori would be crazy about him. His voice is a little soft at times compared to the rest of the cast, but that may be a sound balance problem. Not an issue knowing the show. Flawless piano playing. Very glad for Jojo that he's been able to go on in the lead role a few times. I do have two more bookings, so I should get to see Zheng Xi again also.
Most of the audience around me seemed to be there as fans of the source material. I think there's been an influx of people trying to get in before the early closure. Hopefully, there's a future life for this show. Some of the theatre schools could do an excellent job with this. It needs a young cast and talented musicians, all of whom are out there, although there may need to more artistic licence taken with the original setting in Japan. I do hope that the reported issues around this production are all swiftly resolved.

Does anyone know/remember whether they sell any merch related to the show or the manga at the theatre?

Does anyone know/remember whether they sell any merch related to the show or the manga at the theatre? There is a lot of merch. Tote Bag, T-shirt, acrylic standee, keychain, pin set, bracelet, notebook, bookmark thing, magnet…and program. This is what I remember from yesterday anyway 😅

Such a strange show... The same plot as Mulan Rouge but set in a high school... This is a summer of massive revivals - Fiddler, Dolly, Starlight, Kiss Me Kate, Chorus Line - this show never stood a chance. A real shame for everyone involved.

I think this needed to be something other than a play by play of the source material in a musical style.
In another world, I could imagine it as a great two person play with music, and with compelling writing it probably could stand properly alone rather than being sold on weaker name recognition.

Well caught this tonight, for no other reason it would be my last chance to see this before it closes. The show is inoffensive and enjoyable, it was very good without soaring to dizzy heights. But what was brilliant and soared to dizzy heights and worth the admission alone that was Mia Kobayashi making her musical theatre debut, now I could see her definitely being a future Elphaba/Glinda/Christine Daaé/Fantine.
