On the bright side, it's a very good, enjoyable, heartwarming show. It got lots of critical acclaim, great audience responses, TWO West End runs and gave Rob Madge enough profile that they were able to do things like panto at the Palladium etc. If I were them, I would be be happy and proud of the success that the show has had.
That being said, those on the business side of the venture have shown absolute ineptitude and a total lack of understanding of even the most basic economics in the theatre industry. I'd be angry.
A Broadway run will never happen. What investor would touch it now? If it didn't sell tickets now, it's hardly going to do so in six months or a year's time, unless Madge somehow becomes a big name in the US before then.

Almost 17 weeks in a 900+ seat house? Have we all lost our minds?! Well we have our answer now. It seemed an odd move, a very British show with in a location that doesn’t know him. I honestly thought the next step up would have been a small uk tour around small theatres to reach his reasonable if still small uk fan base. I didn’t really get the leap to broadway. |

If I were Rob, I'd cut ties with the producers after this shambles. More than cut ties, I’d be getting legal advice. They’ve lost guaranteed work/earnings and presumably turned down other offers and roles (or at least potential auditions) due to the ineptitude of these producers. The sad thing is that we all knew this was a bad move. It’s a lovely show and deserves success, but it should always have had a smaller run out there first and scaled up if there was good word of mouth. |

And while am sure this is a charming show (confess I never saw it) there is nothing I know about it that says it's the right thing for a main Broadway house. (And don't even get me started on the theatre world's obsession with "getting to Broadway." Many things (well, majority of things) aren't right for there and I just don't get why it's so often seen as the pinnacle measure of success!) |

It takes a lot of strength of character to accept the circumstances with good grace and humour - and even poke fun at yourself in the process. I hope something great comes along for them in the near future!

Non viable things get cancelled. It obviously wasn’t selling. It probably won’t sell if it goes back on sale next season because it’s probably not right for Broadway. It’s hugely disappointing for him but that’s show business isn’t it?

It’s hugely disappointing for him but that’s show business isn’t it? Oh absolutely, it wasn't a "Broadway" type of show and that was the problem from day one. The entire industry was staring on in sheer disbelief from the day the Broadway transfer was announced, but I do applaud the good humour with which Madge has accepted this latest turn of events. I just do hope that they aren't still stringing them along with promises of "next season". |

Just seen they've announced a show, unfortunately the seats my budget would allow are horrendous, but hope to see maybe in the future!
