Very strange for all three of the leading trio to be as young as they are (particularly Pickering - odd choice) and interesting they're saving dosh by double casting Mrs Eynsford-Hill and Mrs Pearce.
I will probably still go but this is not how I expected this to be cast.

Doubling Mrs Pearce and Mrs Higgins would make for an interesting interpretation. Im not getting a link between the planned doubling - cost?

Interestingly Eliza has two covers listed but all other roles only have one. Seems they’ve learned there lesson from last year about having too few covers for the female lead

Mrs E-H only in the opening scene, and Ascott so doubling that is fine I guess It would be quite a speedy costume change for Mrs Pearce to go from I Could Of Danced All Night into Ascott!

This opens tonight. Looks to be a traditional revival rather than a scaffold/video concoction which has defined recent Curve revivals.
I'm going after Christmas - combining it with Little Shop at the Crucible.

I'm going after Christmas - combining it with Little Shop at the Crucible. I'm doing that combination too hopefully on December 30th. I hope East Midlands Railway behaves itself! I did notice that they have repriced downwards some midweek performances in mid-December and made the back row stalls and some of the side stalls slip seats £10 which looks like a real bargain.

Just got out of first preview some quick thoughts. Overall a very fun production that feels a lot more traditional to what curve have done with day evita or a chorus line. I thought molly and David were great as Eliza and Higgins with one major caviat that drags it down a star to me the ending without me spoiling it to much feels like the worst way to do that scene after all the scenes immediately preceding it. Adored the Higgins and Pickering dynamic. And thought Djevan was the most adorable Freddy. Although if sitting in the front row do be warned that Doolittle and his two sidekicks run down the front row during get me to the church on time (the ushers warned me of this in advance). Overall I’d say a 4/5 a Great production that introduced me to a wonderful score shame about the ending

agreed. Molly plays a very headstrong Eliza and though this ending was still coherent, an ambiguous ending (or the 2018 Bway revival ending) would be much more satisfying

Although if sitting in the front row do be warned that Doolittle and his two sidekicks run down the front row during get me to the church on time (the ushers warned me of this in advance) This was very funny (I was row A too) made funnier by the fact 1) I did not believe the usher's warning highly doubting anyone would try to make actors run through that gap and told my seat neighbour so during the interval; and 2) the man at the row end near me had to stand up to make way and was rewarded by a 'Good boy!' from Harry (played by Jonathan Dryden Taylor). Entertaining move yes but I wonder if it's in relatively high danger of being cut as there's literally no room at the ends unless you leave your seat and step aside

How does it look? Is it Ascot via Primark?

Tbf this is a more elaborate set and costumes than we’ve been used to from the curve. With columns on stage for Covent Garden etc. there are two main building structures either side of the stage for out door scenes that spin round to reveal the interior of the Higgins house. There’s also two doors either side of the stage one for 27 A and the other used as a pub door for Doolittles entrances. Costumes are nothing out of the ordinary for a production of MFL. Lets just say the ensemble are not stuck in a black shirt and jeans for the entirety’s la Evita

That's the stupidest ending they could possibly come up with - what about the previous nearly 3 hours can POSSIBLY lead Nikolai to that conclusion.

It should end with Eliza slapping him round the face

It should end with Eliza slapping him round the face You say that, but that ending would be 100x better than this

I would confidently bet that 90% of the audience wants to see them get together at the end, as long as the age difference isn’t so much that it looks weird.
