On a TikTok live this morning, I asked Marisha about Julian’s costumes this year and said they alone cost over £100,000. I can’t wait to see what they came up with this year.

Lovely first half. Yes okay it’s the same stuff. We are reminded to pick up 3D glasses for the second half 🙄 Lots of video this year with reference to everyone in the west end doing live video including Nicole shirtlifter (as Julian says)

If anyone in today and give us an idea on how bad the far ends of the upper circle front rows are going to be, that'd be fab!

With Matt Slack returning for his 12th year in a row! It's in the latest brochure which went out recently as well.

Apparently there is a celebrity guest at each performance. Today was Paul Merton. If anyone has the full list of performers and dates, please let me know.

After seeing Peter Pan last year, if you’re expecting a story, you won’t be seeing it at the Palladium. I did thought it was quite funny that Julian was playing Robin Hood. I just think it’s weird without Gary still.

I was also there last night and obviously it's Panto and not going to win awards for plot development etc but I thought this was weaker than their usual standard - it all felt a bit flat / forced to me.
I don't think the casting / roles they were given were the strongest this time round and the special effects were boring and watered down variations of things The Twins FX have done many many times before. The 3D video sequence was especially boring / unimpressive too.
Julian's jokes about Nigel being the poster child for assisted dying were quite funny. Rob Madge was great and their song towards the end was the one bit of heart in the show. Charlie and Tosh could have been used to much greater effect with a better script. The ensemble were working as hard as ever. Gary Wilmot was missed! Nigel and Paul did the same old shtick. I'm not really familiar with Jane or Marisha so maybe that didn't help.
I think they need AT LEAST one new amazing thing each year to show they are at the top of their game be it an effect, or an amazing bit of casting, or some new type of act you've not seen before - but this has none of that - it felt to me like the budget had been cut and it was even more disjointed than usual with lots of rehashes and not an especially sharp script. I was even a bit disappointed by Julian's costumes!

What is the 3D sequence, exactly? How long does that go on for?

Interesting Harrison says he remembers seeing Tommy Cooper on stage as the article says he’s 44 so he’d only have been 4 when he died. I don’t think I remember anything specific from that age.
I booked front row when it went on sale, was slightly apprehensive because there’s always a bit where Julian berates them, though not massively bothered as I imagine it’s the same patter every show. But now there’s a chance that a shirtless Tom Inge might chuck his top at me. Oh, no. I’d really hate that. Really. 🤥

It's interesting that Michael Harrison says that doing a single Christmas show doesn't work financially with a few exceptions but the likes of the Lyric Hammersmith, Hackney Empire etc do a different panto every year but I guess they get subsidy and the budgets are a lot lower than Crossroads pantos.

It’s been said that a special guest is playing a role at every performance. Apparently it was Paul Merton on Saturday and ‘a comedy giant’ today - anyone know who?

It was Dawn French today. If anyone has the full list (which is top secret), please can you send it to me?

What a shame they decided not to do the rarely seen "Babies in the Wood" - once a very popular panto - as this would have given this version more of a plot plus a dame - and two kids!

Just back from tonight’s show. It was fab and Dawn French was a great surprise
It definitely seemed much more of an adult pantomime this year. Yes we always get innuendo but there seemed to be not a lot for the kids when it’s usually a balance between adult and kid humour
The 3D sequence was ok although the glasses were not great so it did still seemed blurry to me but that may have been my eyesight than the technology!
Overall great night out and the Julian/Nigel duo was fab as always

Isn't it Babes in the Woods? Robin Hood is essentially a reworked version of that anyway and it's more well known as a title.
