Either I have blocked the whole thing from my memory or that curtain call is very different from the one I saw at 2nd preview.

The majority of the press is Conservative In terms of total circulation that is true but only because the newspaper with by far the largest circulation in the country (950,000 - ABC Circulation figures Feb 2024) is nominally non-partisan but I'd actually characterise it as currently left-leaning. If it comes out for Labour at the election then the majority of the press is Labour. I've left out the identity of the paper concerned and I wonder how many people can guess what it is. The Sun supported Labour for several elections during the Tony Blair era and could do so again though as DPP Starmer prosecuted a bunch of Sun journalists it seems improbable. |

God that's awful, and they all seem embaressed by it. Maybe if they all committed to whatever it is then it wouldn't be so bad, but they all seem low energy and awkward. And that set, it looks like they've dragged random pieces together rather than a cohesive design. And that curtain looks cheap af! The curtain looks like Ann Summers had a job lot of sexy red peekabo fabric going begging. |

The curtain call is inert, it feels like it’s from a different show entirely. Much like the upbeat “We are a Broadway family” songs. The show never finds a way to cohesively blend different moods together and these happy songs just stick out and look ridiculous. |

The theatre is exploring its options and inviting expressions of interest from filler shows, as soon as one is contracted it'll be announced as a oner. That's very disappointing to hear. I bet they'll struggle to get something decent in at short notice. |

Who is that man with bare feet? I don’t like him. Me neither. That’s Benjamin Walker. I saw him in the lead of a Broadway show a few years back and there’s just something unsympatico about him. Burly Bear, thank you so much for posting the clip of the finale. It’s useful to know that something I’ve described in great detail to friends,did actually happen. Similar to having a photo of The Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot I guess. No one could conceive of it being THAT bad, but seeing your clip will prove that I wasn’t exaggerating. Actually seeing your clip makes it look even worse than when I saw it (and it also sounds like the band are playing three different songs at the same time). |

I didn't have quite as full as this at preview 3 Nor I. With everything else wrong with the show, making an active decision to make the curtain call butt-clenchingly worse is just bizarre. |

If my memory serves me right, only one scene uses the curtain for a prolonged period of time (ahead of the the final performance), but it isn't obscuring and it serves a good purpose imo |

From an outsider perspective having only seen the curtain call video and not the show itself it feels like there is an inside joke going on here.

Murdoch knew Tony Blair was a certainty to win in 1997 so probably decided to get him onside when Blair visited and almost courted his support. The printed media doesn't have the reach it did back then nowadays so no need for Sir Kier to do similar. |
