I have a great seat booked for the first preview but turns out I won't be traveling over the summer. If anyone is interested in obtaining it from me please drop me a message.

Looking forward to this one. My first time seeing it as didn't bother going to the run at the Adelphi and will be at the first preview.

This will just be the touring set. So it will be much simpler than the Adelphi version.

Nope. This is David Ian.. Cheap is his middle name. The tour played the biggest venues without making it more 'grand' and I don't imagine they will pump it up for London at all.
For the record I've heard it was good on tour so I'm not saying they'd need to do more in London

I'm assuming they will keep the song changes from the tour too? Still gutted they cut Oh Yes for The Stalker.

I'm assuming they will keep the song changes from the tour too? Still gutted they cut Oh Yes for The Stalker. I guess if it's a Whitney musical and that was never sung by her - or was it? I heard the stalker doesn't say one word in the whole show now! Hoping they keep the Mayan Melody, Greatest love of all & where do broken hearts go though. I liked I'm your baby Tonight but I heard that's gone too. Hope they do a new Queen of the Night as I don't like the new version at all, I prefer the old one. I hope they bring back the house too

For the record I've heard it was good on tour so I'm not saying they'd need to do more in London I thought Bill Kenwright was the cheap one! David Ian does some good shows though, Gypsy wasn't cheap. I think they'll change the set if I'm honest as it will be in one big theatre for 6 months and not on tour like before

He was very cheap with Gypsy. Most of the set existed and was paid for by Chichester. (Though I'm just glad someone brought it to London when it was a big risk) Anyway.. Maybe he'll string up some extra fairy lights or something. Maybe give the set a dusting for the Dominion.

It also depends if they plan on shipping out the show back on tour again after London... they won't change the set for just London just to revert back to the tour one again.

Like you said, I'm glad he brought it to London though. I thought the set for Gypsy was amazing and one of my favourites!!

I highly doubt they'll do a new tour in January considering they've literally just finished an 18 month tour of the UK. Maybe in a couple of years they'll do a tour again. Haven't they still got the Adelphi set somewhere? Please change Queen of the Night though? It looked so tacky and I can't imagine Bev in that costume!

No... The transfer was sorted out after it opened in Chichester.. It wasn't a definite anyone would transfer it... Thank god he did. He was very cheap with Gypsy. It has been looking at touring again 2017/18...I don't know to what extent things are confirmed, but as fair as I'm aware it was at the point of pencilling in venues.

I don't think the set will change at all. The Germany production, which is the latest and is a non-touring production had a set identical to the tour, which looks a tiny bit different than London and it more "tour looking". There are very tiny modifications which they can implement at the Dominion without building a new set, ie some of the dancers jumping from traps in the stage, I'm Every Woman done on several platforms and the elevator at the end going up higher.
I do hope they change Queen of the Night. The costumes and music arrangement is dreadful.

Some pictures have been released on the internet showing the new cast, looks like it is the tour set they're using. Shame

It's filling in for six months, it's more economical to use the tour set

It was always gonna be the tour set, the tour cast are only getting 2 days rehearsal, and the only 2 'new' ensemble (Omari Bernard & Annie Kitchen) both were in the first tour cast, so not as much rehearsal needed. The only thing I'd prefer set wise is the original house, and as much as I don't mind the tour Queen of the Night, it suits the younger Rachel's better. Tho the original was a lot better

Will Ibinabo Jack have to leave early to do Dreamgirls? I'd prefer them to use the original two level house too as well as the original bar. What is the tour set like compared to the orignal - much different? It looks like an 'arena' from what I've seen. Yes I hope they do a different Queen of the Night too, but I don't think they will. I don't think Beverley would like doing the new one much

In Germany they used the original tour cabin set, so it might make a come back in London given that it's a six month sit down. I hope you're right about Queen of the Night. The new version is awful awful awful I really don't see how they do not see that. I can't imagine Bev or Deborah Cox in that garb doing this arrangement.

I just saw a Bodyguard advert appear on my TV, makes me very excited to see the show this autumn. Has anyone seen both Beverley and Alexandra and can offer any comparisons?

Beverley sings it beautifully (and better than Alexandra), but her acting is shockingly amateurish and her accent is laughable. Alexandra is a much better actress and just overall very charming in the role and dances very well.

Now she's done a year in Memphis and a season in Cats, I'm sure she'll be good in the role again. I thought her acting in Memphis was good. Only seen Alexandrs in this so looking forward to seeing Bev in it
