Alexandra Burke's cancelled her upcoming solo tour, due to start in September, because of "a change in her schedule"... potentially Bodyguard-related? wouldn't be at all surprised, the last tour sold very well on her name!

Alexandra Burke's cancelled her upcoming solo tour, due to start in September, because of "a change in her schedule"... potentially Bodyguard-related? Her tour was only a few weeks in September. The Bodyguard opens in December - could be a possibility but I doubt she wouldn’t be able to do a tour 2 months before the show started?

Alex had a good run in the Bodyguard but would she cancel a tour to go back to that. Surely if the producers had wanted her, she could have come back for a short run around a new lead. Zoe Birkett is doing Rock of Ages so a new lead would be likely. But I'd guess if the offer was good enough then Alex may well take it.

It's more likely her tour was cancelled due to low ticket sales. it's quite a standard excuse for that kind of thing
She is being sought by Qdos for one of it's larger venues but I don't know if she has signed on or not

I don't know why this has only just come into my head, but I will ask. During "I Will Always Love You", as anyone will know having seen it, the actress playing Rachel goes onto a lift that takes her into the air. I was wondering, is the actress standing freely on that platform as it goes up or is there some form of safety thats pops up for her to lean on beind her once she is on the platform? Because I've only ever seen the show from an angle where I couldn't see behind her, and it seems kinda dangerous to just have whoever is playing the role just stand there and assume she won't fall. I know several of the women I've seen in the role go bare foot or flip-flops out of comfort and not falling in heels. I also remember ending somewhere that it was Heathers dreaded part at first because she was scared she would fall.

Just had a quick look on you tube. Looks like there are no safety barriers on the platform when it rises up. The health and safety bods won’t like that.

Regulations say that an open platform is acceptable as long as it doesn’t go over a certain height (can’t remember what the height is, but this example must come just below).

The platform is also very wide and long in width and length so it’s not like the actress has no room to stand at leisure. It is a huge square so less unlikely she can loose her balance I guess compared to if it was a small square platform

She also wears flip flops rather than heels, ensuring her feet are flat on the ground!

I'd heard rumours that it was going to be Melody Whatsherface from the Sugarcat Dolls, but I did have a hunch it might end up being Alex. I was quite critical of her acting performance, but there's no doubt about the fact that she shifts a lot of tickets, and I see no reason why that would be any different this time around. She was the best selling Rachel we've had in the UK and I'm sure she was able to command quite an attractive package (behave, @ryan!) - everyone's a winner really. I did think it would be Melody too as she did the China tour and they seemed to be testing her out over there as to be honest nobody in China would know she is anyway. Surprised they didn’t use her agajn for the UK then as thought this show would easily sell based off the film and songs alone

There's always the alternate. I made an effort to go see an evening performance to see Alex last time but I won't bother this time (not because I didn't like her or anything, just I want to see someone else) and just catch the matinée.

From Southampton onwards it says casting to be confirmed so there might be another Rachel

Back on the road for Alexandra then. I suspect she will be on more money since her exposure on Strictly with a view to her shifting tickets. It's a job and they are hard to come by.
