Question... now that The Bodyguard has done so well on tour and on the West End first time round, is the Dominion set as a strictly limited run, or, if it does find success once again (as I suspect it could) is there a chance it could become an open-ended run? As nothing is set for after (that we are aware of) and if it sells well there and brings business, it should, in theory, extend right? From what I understand the same company (sans Frank and Rachel, I believe) are doing a run in Toronto after London. I would think Deborah will do Toronto as it's her hometown.

I knew I'd heard something about the production going abroad after London.

I assume something is planned for the Dominion after The Bodyguard closes in January, I would guess Finding Neverland as Nederlander are one of the producers along with Harvey Weinstein.

Finding Neverland would die a fast death if it opens in the barn that is the Dominion! At least if it is somewhere like the Phoenix or Piccadilly it has a chance to gain more of a following and run longer.

If they're planning to use the same sets as Broadway then I doubt they'll be going to somewhere like the Phoenix or the Piccadilly unless they downsize.

Ghost played at the Lunt on Broadway and the Piccadilly in London? No need to downsize. From what I remember the Lunt stage isn't that big...

Ghost played at the Lunt on Broadway and the Piccadilly in London? No need to downsize. From what I remember the Lunt stage isn't that big... The lunt stage is a lot wider than most west end theatres, probably more like thr Dominion in width! They needed to expand the set for Ghost for Broadway. Just back from the matinee at Woking! Great to see it back on stage after seeing all the leads in London plus a few "questionable" understudies. It's been downsided naturally for tour and I did not like all the changes, mainly queen of the night! I thought it looked cheap! I thought the stalker now creates less tension as you don't really see his face that much or have any interaction under you see him appear with Fletcher. It's not till the tension music comes that I think most people realised it was the stalker! I miss the house but understand why it was cut. Also why do we see Rachel getting ready before the Miami benefit? Minor things I know but I don't think most of the changes improve the story. The cast - very impressed. I saw Carole as Nikki in London and loved her then so was excited to see her and she didn't disappoint. I saw a few heather Headley acting choices which I loved and some great vocals! Rachel John! Wow wow wow! She's just brilliant! I could listen to her all day long! I noticed people on here that Rachel is understudy Rachel but she's not listed in the programme? It's Carole and Emmy? She is because I would get straight to the Dominion to see a Rachel/Rachel show!!! Understudy Frank was on and was meh. Nice ensemble boys lol! Overall it's great to see this doing so well on the road. The woman in the box office said there were only single seats available at the evening performances!

I think it's a balls up in the programme for having Carole on the understudies, although there's been a new reprint for each venue (due to Carole as lead, Zoe as lead, new fletchers and a new/old swing) so not sure why it hasn't been picked up...
I watched on Thursday to see the Frank understudy I liked him as he was different, but could tell it was a understudy performance if that makes sense

I have to agree with you that the changes are not for the better. I especially hate the new Queen of the Night, and sorely miss the Mozart bit in the London version! Also, the part when the stalker was suspended as he was writing the letters now replaced with CGI footage..not amazing.
Regarding the house, I think it was hard for them to tour it but they MIGHT bring it back for the Dominion stop. The German version is identical to the current tour version with a few enhancements here and there, namely the boys popping out from a trap during Queen of the Night, and there are a few levels in I'm Every Woman, and they use the same London house rather than the tour version of the house. So I think we might see these upgrades, if you will, once it stops in London as it's at least for three months.
I've yet to see Carole in the tour as Rachel, but I saw her as Rachel in London and she was so-so. I'll definitely see her in London, and hope she is more at ease with the vocals now than she was in 2014!

I honestly can't wait for it to return to London this year! Such an amazing show and Beverley will be great! I loved the original London set so much so I hope they still use that. What do they do instead of the house then for the tour? How it is laid out?
I hope the dominion isn't too big for this show as I want it to be a sellout and hopefully extend as it deserves too!

I've noticed on BGT how big the Dominion Theatre is! I'm really worried that The Bodyguard won't sell well in a huge theatre like that? Do you guys think it will? I really want it to do well and not flop in a 2000+ theatre

I really want it to do well and not flop in a 2000+ theatre It was really smart to do it after the UK Tour so it has a wider fanbase, and for Beverley to of extended her Musical Theatre credits in order to gain more fans in that field. I think it will see out its 6 months successfully, especially as it will be here in both the Summer and Christmas so tourism and school holidays will be at its peak. I hope it can extend further, I really would love to see this run!

I guess 6 months is a loads of time really but I think it's clever to advertise it as limited then hopefully extend. It's also good, like you said, that they're doing it after the tour so people know more of it! Also Summer and Christmas seasons are good too, and it might do Kids Week which will get younger people too. Beverley is amazing in everything she does so I'm sure she will sell the tickets, I think she's so good! Hope to meet her afterward. I really hope it extends and runs at the Dominion for some years to come. I think it would've stayed in London for longer if Made in Dagenham hadn't managed to book the theatre. It's funny how Nederland owns the Dominion and half the Adelphi so they probably wanted the show back!

I don't think it will sell OUT every night, but given it is six months, I think it will do quite well especially with Bevsters attached. There are certain economies of scale achieved here, if they either decide to re-use the London set from the Adelphi or continue using the tour set. The set is really not that fancy to begin with and is rather suggestive and simple. Relatively speaking for a big show, it must have a medium-expense to mount.

I am assuming they will keep some of the changes from the tour like songs etc as those decisions were obviously made for reasons. All I want is "Oh Yes" to be re-introduced for The Stalker and the house set for the middle of Act II to return, then I will be happy.

ME TOO. That song and scene were really good. I think they'll bring back the cabin from the West End run, though. And I miss the stalker scene, and also the way they had him suspended from the ceiling rather than the awful CGI projection. But TBH I doubt the show will see any content changes.

The opening song Queen of The Night will be interesting too... will they keep the warrior version for the tour with the gold and the yellow, more dance heavy version or bring back the original black and red, opera style version?

^ Please, the original! Or a new thing all together! The new version is atrocious. I honestly can't imagine them dressing up Bev in that (or Deborah Cox later on in the year). Both are better than that, and I honestly don't think it's appropriate. It could work better with a younger Rachel, but doesn't work with a late 30s/early 40s Rachel.

The house scene is super important as a main character leaves (if you seen it you know what I mean!). I hope they bring back the black and operatic Queen of the Night - it worked super well! And I'm sure they'll reintroduce the stalker hanging whilst writing - it was almost impossible to do that for a touring show

The cabin is more or less the same concept as the doll house that they used in London, but it's not a 360 model. It's just a two dimension piece with a wall facing the audience and a door towards the left. It's static and it doesn't tilt like London.

Which was purely an issue with it being a touring production presumably considering that piece of set as most people seemed to love the house set, so the assumption I have is it will be back?

I think it will be back. They had a 3D cabin in Germany, despite the show being identical book and song wise as the tour version. I also miss them converting the auditorium into the Oscars with the tangling TV screens and the camera man "filming" Rachel. I think that'll be completely gone, they didn't have it in Germany, nor did they have the dangling stalker.
Who knows, maybe they'll step it up in London again.

And the venue is pretty huge, it really is the arena of the West End with how wide it is and the size itself, that stage is frickin' huge... they couldn't simply put the touring show onto that stage without cutting the stage down with black curtains or something, which would then be an issue for those sitting at the end of rows. That said, I love the venue, I saw Elf back row of the Circle and the view was fantastic, I can't wait to see how this show translates here! Do we know how it is doing at all in terms of sales?

Yes the stage is huge! The fortune theatre can fit into it!! It is like an arena! They'll have to change the set back to the London version. I looked at a couple of dates online and it looks like it's selling reasonably well. It's early days still so hopefully it'll sell more later on in the year nearer to the run!
