I’ve never been to the Menier before. When are tickets for this likely to go on sale? For the summer I'd imagine in the Spring - March/April

Enjoyed this when The Union did it years ago.
Will look forward to seeing this production.

I don’t know the show or score at all, but it is Stephen Schwartz so consider me booked! The Menier looks like it is well and truly back, what with this and PACIFIC OVERTURES.

Great news. I'd have preferred The Magic Show, but given that's never going to happen, I'll take this as second best! Great score but somewhat thin book.

Great score but somewhat thin book. Totally agree. I hope they reinstate Endless Delights, otherwise the title character is missing for the majority of Act 2 and no one is really that interested in the villagers and their quibbles with each other. Maybe it will be a new version alltogethr.

I believe he said 'a new production of...' but that could mean anything.

There was a video made (not a bootleg) of the show just before it opened at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, just prior to the original London production. It has pretty much the same cast, except for Siobhan McCarthy who plays Genivieve. Alan Armstrong really is wonderful in it.

I am interested. One of my favourite songs in the recording is actually "If it wasn't for you". And I love the one about the bread...

I like some of them too, but there's so many of them. Look For The Woman, Luckiest Man in the World, Feminine Companionship could all be cut and make barely a difference to the story. If it wasn't for you is great because it sets up the characters and their relationships. For me, all the hughlights are mostly in Act 1

And, to be honest, I've never seen it staged. I just tend to like villagers (like in Fiddler on the Roof) :-)

So this is being revived next year at the Menier. I wonder who will be cast as the title role and the Baker himself? Hope whoever is cast has the vocal chops to handle ‘Meadowlark’ - that is a tough song and is, arguably, ‘the song’ of the show. Casting thoughts?

Bradley Jaden would make a great Dominique in this.
