It's the great "if only..." Much as I loved the show at the Dominion, in the Shaftesbury it would have been sublime.

Going to this tonight. Noticed the grand circle and balcony are not being sold on DMT so I presume my grand circle ticket will be automatically upgraded  |

So glad Ian Bartholemew (of whom I had never heard before seeing this) is belatedly getting more mentions and will be seen again soon at Chichester in Half A Sixpence (a work I have, thank goodness, never seen in any format).

Emma Williams going into Half A Sixpence too. Unfortunately from one flop to another probably. However, good the "new" Half A Sixpence might be I simply cannot see it transferring commercially to the West End like other Chichester musicals such as Gypsy and Guys and Dolls. I fear it would sink like Showboat.

This show's sales seem to be on a downward spiral! Such a shame.
I was just wondering: if all the obsessives who see Wicked etc 25 times actually went to see a different show each time, maybe more new shows would stand a chance of surviving. As it is, the general theatre-going generation seems to be dying away rapidly.

So I saw this last night and not knowing too much about this, especially the music, I really enjoyed it.
Truth be known I've been thinking about it all day.
I had only seen the film many years ago.
I had only seen Ian Bartholomew in Take Flight at the Menier Chocolate Factory a couple of years back and Lizzie Connelly first on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Xanadu. other that that have not seen any cast members in anything else before, but I liked them all. So good to see Lizzie Connelly in something else. She's a real character actress isn't she?
I was certainly aware of Emma Williams, but again had never seen her in anything but now have seen a whole lot more of here than expected!
She was very good. Such a sweet voice.
Also loved the costumes and wigs. Some good lighting.
The disrobing scene; ;its talk about it. Yep, the girls are full naked and as others have previously posted, tasteful so. I don't have a problem with their size. Emma Williams standing full naked in front of you (literally) a few feet in front of you was unexpected.
The guys. Yep, two arses and one of the guys, although cleverly shielded was visible from where I was sitting and anther's pubic lines was visible so yep, they too were naked.
And kudos to them for doing so. It wasn't in the show for shock value but as part of the flow of the show and it was humorous. And the fact that they were (in my opinion) showed their commitment to the show.
It is a shame this is closing too soon.

Was at the musical this evening (my second time) & charmed me once again. I have said before that the songs are great within the show but perhaps aren't all that memorable but on 2nd viewing I heard the lyrics so much more & had much more of an emotional impact...in particular 'Ordinary Girl' is a song I need to seek out...Emma made the house gasp in admiration at her powerhouse moment (Mountains to climb), a star is born  ? So the trend of an understudy in a main role was present tonight and high praise to Graham Vick playing 'Vivian' this evening, my friend said if she hadn't seen the notice she would have never known, he brought charm & suave to the role. Oh and George Foreman didn't annoy me, some of the jokes hit (caught myself laughing) & he feels more embedded with the cast. I had forgotten how good the end of act 1 was. Glad I have seen this one again!! |

I thought this was one of the worst shows I've seen for a long time. There was only one decent song. I don't think it's closing because people didn't give it a chance - it's just not very good.

This show was great. I loved it. Problem was that only half of the score is any good.
Emma Williams is a star. Amazing talent.

I must say (and this won't make me very popular at all) as much as I enjoyed the show, I really don't get the raves for Emma Williams. She was very nice, looks pretty and sings nicely but I didn't think she stood out much from the rest of the talented cast. I mean, it could have been her character that was a bit bland but . . .

I want to dayseat for this. Any idea what a suitable time is to arrive on a saturday? I was there a few Saturdays ago. I arrived around 9.30, mostly because I had nothing else to do anyway and there was only one guy ahead of me. Started getting a bit busier around 10am. |

Agreed about how just amazing her moment was last night...you could feel the awe of her voice throughout the theatre...was a really special moment. I thought the cast were all on fine form last night! Personally think Emma is wonderful & she got my standing ovation last night (love 'Berti') |

I know what you mean but there's nothing vanilla about her moment in the spotlight at the end of act one. The lady has (virtual) cojones of steel!
