I saw this at WEL and was not impressed. It’s a shame as I really like Leesa. I have seen her in Six a few times and also performing at the diner too
But both songs that they sang, especially the up beat one, were not good at all
It will have a built in audience from Six but don’t see it lasting long, especially in a theatre the size of the Garrick
This would have been much better served at TOP, the Arts or even Soho Place I think. But let’s see as I am very happy to be proved wrong

Do we know which performances the two alternates will be doing?

Do we think this is going to be good? I can’t tell whether to buy a ticket or not.

I keep getting adverts for it on Instagram and TikTok; seems like the sort of musical that would do better at somewhere like the Southwark Playhouse than jumping straight into the West End

I wouldn’t count this one out. Jo Foster was fabulous in the workshop last year and the songs are a strong mix of pop and musical theatre tunes with excellent choreography. Excited to see what Leesa will do with the role, although do wish Christina Bennington had a shot at it also.

I don’t think I’m the intended audience for this, but it keeps being pushed to me on social media. Six was too concert-like for my taste, so I was interested in seeing what Marlow and Moss would do with material which was more musical theatre in nature.
I’ve found the clips I’ve seen to be underwhelming at best. I can’t see the subject-matter keeping me engaged for a full show. The songs haven’t appealed to me, either - I found the upbeat one about dating to be very cringe-worthy, and the ballad didn’t seem to have a discernible melody.
It all seemed very self-indulgent, but maybe I’ll be proved wrong, and people will love it!

8 dates (demo) available in streaming services: tr.ee/G9S6tLvoL-Rush tickets (25 GBP) now available via TodayTix. It’s most likely a front row as it’s locked from sales.

I’m not sure I can face this…are we not over this sort of lowest common denominator ‘version of camp’? ‘Six’ at least has a bit of substance from the historical element and being full of bangers, but this just sounds like ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ the musical. I realise that I’m not ‘target’, but I had just hoped for so much more, musically at least. Really hoping that it’s bigger and better onstage.

I see the potential in the songs that we've heard so far, but they sound to small and almost already dated? It's marked as "Demo" so maybe the stage version (and then the cast recording) will have some improvements to it. Having said that, it stuck in my head and I'm totally in for checking this out. Let's hope the rush battles won't be crazy .

danb "Gimme Gimme Gimme" genius. So funny. I listened to the song twice this morning. Made me smile. Its themes maybe universal "Another hundred people just got off the train" but i suspect it could date very quickly though

But this is ‘a big fancy musical’ which thrive & survive these days on repeat viewings, and if the comedy in it is ‘once and done’ it’ll scupper its long term future. Once the gays & theatre kids have seen it where will it have left to go? So yes, hopefully there are some bigger more universal themes in there to pull in the mass market, and repeat their Six success.

Well that song just confirms that this really isn't for me.
Musically uninteresting. Lyrically forced.
The staging, if the WEL and rehearsal footage is what they intend in the full production, is overblown and unnecessary for such a slight piece of narrative.
It just feels so derivative and dated

I've seen a few videos, and it seems a bit 6th form drama project.

Love this song SO much, been rewatching the West End Live performance of it a lot as well. This show seems like it's gonna be so much fun! I'm excited.

Perhaps the result of the pressure the two writers are under after their debut. I'm sure I've read before how Six was written in about a fortnight. I suspect Why Am I So Single is quite the opposite and has been rewritten time and again since however many years ago they started working on it.

I haven’t seen any of this in much detail but I’d absolutely lay my money on the songs being spoken-sung with northern and southern accents, Rob Madge style.

Heard the new song. Absolutely not for me! I haven't heard anything purposely, will hear it first in the theatre, hopefully from a £25 seat in the stalls. Come on the cannot be worse than Kathy and Stellar solved a murder. Let's be honest though the genius that are Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, even if this does flop Toby & Lucy never have to work again!

I think ‘lucky’ is a better adjective than ‘genius’. It seems to me that Kenny Wax was the genius here; maybe not creatively but he has certainly mined those 9 songs for every last penny.
