Maybe it's just me, or has the whole booking system crashed?

£177.50!!!!!! Good grief! Presume the £20 are the back row, possibly edges only, or standing?

Their website needs a bit of a proof read. On the mobile version anyway. Noel Coward's Theatre?! drstrangelove.com/

Maybe I’ll regret it but my days of booking things well over a year in advance are over: I’ll look at availability next summer and take it from there.

FOMO's a curse! Went for two at £84.75 each on Thurday 17 October evening, which is the last performance before the Band A price goes up to £89.75 and stays at that for all subsequent performances on any day of the week (at least currently before dynamic pricing has anything to do with it). The previous Friday/Saturday are also at that higher price.

The previous Friday/Saturday are also at that higher price. I assume you mean November if it's Thursday the 14th - so do the (slightly) lower ticket prices stay in place for the first month? I booked for Monday 14th October but didn't compare prices/dates as had enough trouble just getting the website to work.

Wasn't being pedantic, just trying to understand the pricing.. but imagine a doctorate is required to fully grasp that.

I'm seeing prices typically around £2.75 cheaper than Dave B has them above, but that may be because I don't pay a booking fee as a DMT+ member.

Nerdy fact probably no one cares about: Peter Sellers (the original Doctor Strangelove) was a huge fan of Stan Laurel and not only met him but also based his performance in Being There on him - Steve Coogan played Stan in the movie Stan & Ollie, so it’s a strange twist of date that he’s now playing Sellers in a way

I'm sure Steve Coogan will be very good in this, but is it not a stretch calling him a stage star? I don't remember him ever being in a play or musical stage production. I've always thought he would be very good on stage but he has a major barrier now in that he is overwhelmingly known by the mass audience for a single character that he has played for 32 years. It will be hard for him, and the audience, to avoid the memory of that here.

It will be hard for him, and the audience, to avoid the memory of that here. His own management agency don't list any stage credits on his CV. He has done stage stuff but probably not of the sort we'd think of, he's done a few tours playing his own comedy creations (mainly Partridge). That includes arena tours, so I can see a marketing person converting that to 'huge stage star'. A quick search around the internet didn't yield me a dramatic play. Nonetheless it's decent casting I think. Will have a peak around at the 10am ticket release but totally agree with Marwood about not generally booking things a year in advance anymore. If nothing else, whilst your seat selection is better it's not like the prices are particularly cheap anymore, they dynamically price everything immediately.

I'm not a huge fan of said 'character' but thought he was great in Philomena and astonishingly good in Stan & Ollie. I reckon he's very versatile and pretty talented so, even if he's not been on stage before, I think he's a big enough performer to make it work and I'll be really interested to see him in this.

Steve has never done a play but has done multiple tours of comedy characters including quick changes and switching characters so that is ideal for Dr Strangelove. I never knew Peter Sellers based his character on Being There on Stan Laurel so thanks to anxiousoctopus for pointing that out.
Steve is a good casting choice and the sort of name you'd want attached to the show. Although most of us associate him with Alan Partridge as other posters have said on here he has played serious and comedy roles away from his signature character to great success. So he has got a lot to get his teeth into with the characters in this play.

However there’s a barrier to overcome - for example I bet every single review mentions Alan Partridge.

For those saying he's never done a play, he was in Blue Remembered Hills at the National back in the 90s.

Certainly not Steve Coogan. Weird, since he would already have been pretty well known as AP by then (1996, apparently). I have a vague recollection of Nigel Lindsay and Robert Glenister but that's about it. theatricalia.com/play/5w1/blue-remembered-hills/production/sbv

Well remembered Alice. I'd had a look on his wikipage and no plays were listed. But it is nice to know he has done some stage work outside of his own tours.
I'll be most interested to see how Steve plays the President character. Dr Strangelove himself he can have a lot of fun with and the British RAF officer Mandrake will be an easy character for him to master even if he is a lot older than Peter Sellars when he played Mandrake. Steve being in his late 50's will be a plus to him playing the president and Strangelove as they would have been a lot older than Peter Sellars was when he played them.
Sellars was due to play the B52 commander in the film too but hurt his ankle and couldn't work in the confined plane set but I doubt Steve would be able to or want to play 4 characters on stage as logistics and workload would just be too much.
Hopefully there will be decent names in the supporting cast as there are a number of good roles there for top actors to get into.

Saw a trailer for The Reckoning tonight with Coogan as Jimmy Savile. Looks like he's going to be terrific in it. Starts 9th Oct.

I just booked an okay seat in the gods for £62, but I’m amazed they’re charging £185 for central stalls (£95 for rear stalls). They’ve already lowered it to around £160 mid-week, I wonder if they’ll lower those premium prices more as we approach the autumn
I understand premium prices for high-demand experience shows like Cabaret, but as good as Dr Strangelove is as a story and Steve Coogan as the titular character I don’t think people are going to be willing to fork that much out for seats
