One-person plays are becoming more popular these days…Jodie Comer in Prima Facie, Sheridan Smith in Shirley Valentine, Dame Maureen Lipman in Rose, Lenny Henry in August in England, and now Andrew Scott is back on stage for Vanya!
Which other classics could be reimagined as a one-person play?

This sort of one-man show - the various times it has been done with Macbeth, Eddie Izzard's threatened Hamlet etc. - always have a faint air of vanity projects hanging over them.

Oh Andrew I do like you but... no. 7pm starts suggest it won't be a short one either.

Not overwhelmed with enthusiasm but some friends of mine are big fans so might try the Richmond run. I didn't notice any indication when tickets would go on sale?

Whatsonstage say tickets go onsale tomorrow with an atg members presale today but I can't find any mention of the show on the atg site, can anyone else? The official website is pretty basic: vanyaonstage.com/

And there’s even an ATG member presale - well I never!
Probably not one for me but I know Mr Scott is very popular so I hope this does well.

I do like Andrew Scott but I watched the BBC broadcast of Uncle Vanya with Toby Jones and thought the play to be so overrated and quite dull, so don't think I'll be seeing this. And the 7pm start suggests it could be a long one.

I'm an ATG member but I never receive their presale alerts, if this goes on presale could someone please post here so I know to try and grab some tickets? Thanks

If anyone can let me know London prices please, would be appreciated. Though I imagine I'll be trying for the lottery

£87.50 is the top non-premium price at both Richmond Theatre and Duke of York Theatre, but it's massively hollowed out by the premium seats at the Duke of York Theatre, whereas Richmond only has minimal premium carve-outs.
Best deal is front two rows of Richmond, which are marked restricted view, but cost a more reasonable £45. For £45 at the Duke of York, you only get Row U of the Stalls.
Row C at Wimbledon is £65, as are all Rows N - S. For £65 at the Duke of York, you only get Rows S and T of the Stalls.

It's going to be an expensive autumn for me! Looking forward to this but unfortunately it means I will have to forgo A Mirror (hoping that transfers from Almeida at some point). Will try and group Vanya with Lyonesse and Sunset Boulevard.

Hmmm - can’t decide about this. Could be interesting I guess ( and I have a soft spot for Richmond theatre).
Have to be honest I’m not a particular fan of one man plays - particularly ones that are adapted. I’ve not often seen one that I thought was better for being a solo performance. And several that have shades into unintentionally comic…

Now on General sale. Opening night sold out but lots of availability otherwise. And another surprisingly quick & easy booking experience. In and out in under 10 minutes. What is happening???
