Did Lily James enjoy performing in All about Eve so much that she wants to star in another similar sounding play.
Have to say it doesn't sound too exciting even with Thomas attached.

I've only seen Linda, the play Penelope Skinner did at the Royal Court. Seems very ballsy for Sonia Friedman and Ian Rickson to debut a new play in the West End.
I'm surprised The Village Bike hasn't been revived yet.

I saw Lily James in All About Eve and wasn’t impressed. Probably because Gillian Anderson is such a better actor than her that I hardly noticed Lily at all half the time. I thought she was completely miscast in that production. I will see Lyonesse but I’m hoping it’s not the same case, especially opposite another powerhouse in KST. I just don’t think Lily’s abilities as an actor are well suited to live theatre. Hoping I’m pleasantly surprised though.

As Nina, in "The Seagull," at the Southwark Playhouse, she was incandescent as a flighty actress on the make. She was the best thing in it by a country mile. You couldn't take your eyes off her, and when the tragedy kicked in, it was heartbreaking. In the right part, in my opinion, she's an incredible stage actress.

In fact I forgot she was in it until I was reminded when the NT replays were advertised. Didn’t help it was Ivan V-H and it all looked like it was set in a shipping container. I like GA but even she couldn’t encourage me to stay for the second act

Thanks for sharing! I agree it sounds a little Sunset Boulevard but I’d love to see KST on stage so count me in.

Does anyone have any insight on potential dates or when tickets are likely to go on sale? The deadline article mentions an opening of late September or early October (even though Dr Semmelweis is running at HP until 7th October). Hoping it opens when I'm there the following weekend for Sunset Boulevard and Vanya to save me another London trip! But that would be a very quick turnaround.

Not sure on the specifics for this particular show but I think you’d be looking at around 10 days minimum turnaround between shows in the same theatre until the first preview and a further week or so to press night.

Yes, it's on ATG presale as of this morning. Expensive even in previews and that week is inconvenient for me annoyingly so have less choice of dates to pick from. Opening night looks to be Oct 25th, so only a week of previews ahead of that.
Front row is currently D. Prices for previews are £125/£115/£105/£95/£70/£55/£39.50/£29.50 and £10 and post-opening night (for a Sat performance) are £180(package seat)/£155/£130/£125/£95/£80/£55/£45/£15. So it's expensive!
Tempted to wait this one out and jump in when additional seats at the front are added - would assume with three rows to play with at least one more may get put on sale?

Think you’re right about the three rows. Think I might chance it and wait too!

We'll just have to keep checking ATG, and hope someone posts it here when they appear!
Worth watching what they do with Dr Semmelweis re. rows and pricing - currently look like row C is the front for that one (not sure if it's been on sale at all, but A and B don't appear on the plan so assuming C will be the front). Would assume there's a good chance it'll be appear for this too, although doesn't look like they're usually considerably cheaper sadly!

Yes agree, fingers crossed for the front 3 rows being cheaper...

I like it. Sunset Boulevard meets All About Eve.
I hated the stage adaptation of All About Eve though. They just copied and pasted the script from the movie word for word and gave it an ugly set and some unnecessary camerawork.

I liked AAE but didn’t love it - have high hopes for this one though.

Had a bad day so booked a premium seat to cheer myself up… I’ve loved pretty much everything directed by Ian Rickson and it will be wonderful to watch Kristin Scott-Thomas tread the boards again. I’m excited
