It’s doing an extended run in New York too and with the huge St. James to fill and a fairly recent production of Sunset in NY, I imagine tickets may be a little easier to come by over there, especially in the winter months. Broadway ticket buying habits have moved to very last minute with tickets for even Cabaret/Merrily readily available up until the day of the performance and with dynamic pricing.

From the looks of things already though, advance ticket sales seem to be doing well.  At least from the 5 dates I've been consistently checking from the day they first started.  I'm going on October 12 and was one of the first buyers where you had your choice of seats.  Seeing how many seats are already gone when we're 6 months away is surprising to me in 2024.

Oh wow -after listening to Michael Riedel's podcast that had audio interviews with ALW, Patti and Glenn, which helped flesh out what he had previously written in book form - am surprised to find another Sunset thing like this that has been off the radar for me!  Looking forward to downloading it tonight.  Although I really have a lot of work to do, I can see being sidetracked by this pretty easily

They're now running ads on social media featuring quick flashes of the packaging and track listing; looks like a complete cast recording of the entire show, start to finish, with dialogue scenes.

I suspected so when it was listed as a triple LP, but it's good to have been confirmed.

There is also a "note from Andrew Lloyd Webber" inside, no idea what that is.

Yes, came here to post that! Both the limited edition and standard CDs, and the vinyl look great. Really like how they’re completely embracing the show’s branding for the packaging.

Would still love some signed CDs but with Nicole and the others in the US now I think it’s unlikely.

Yes. It's like that on almost all of his cast recordings on streaming. So for example, Don't Cry For Me Argentina on the Evita concept album is credited as being performed by Andrew Lloyd Webber first and Julie Covington second.

That Andy certainly has a cracking mezzo soprano voice!

Thank you, I wondered about that too.

It made me think it’s perhaps a studio recording where ALW was on piano, but I’d rather (and assumed) it was live from the Savoy, given the website says it was recorded there.

For Sunset it's got to be about 95% is through-sung... it's awkward for ALW's shows not to record the entirety since many of the reprises and interludes are beautiful and help to appreciate the songs that stand out.

Personally, I like the dialogues as they give me context and make me pay closer attention to the lyrics.

Thanks for copying this over! I just compared this listing against the LA cast recording and the time stamps look comparable - really looking forward to this album.

Some shows I don't like having the dialogue included on cast recordings, but I think it really works for Sunset, especially with the score playing constantly in the background.

depends. If you're listening on CD, mp3 or even streaming they are easy to skip, if desired, as the everything is fully "tracked".

But appreciate it is more difficult for the "vinyl fetishists" out there!

(I don't think I've played a "record", as we used to call them, since the mid 90's!)

Par for the course with music publishing though isn’t it? Madonna learned very fast to contribute a couple of La La LA’s to the lyrics and get her self a songwriting co-credit. I’m not convinced that Taylor Swift is as prolific as we’re led to believe either.

Must be quite lucrative as it seems fairly common. Back in the 60s the creator of Star Trek wrote lyrics to the theme tune, never intending to use them, but very much intending to claim half the royalties. More recently JJ Abrams has written the themes for most of his TV shows too.
