I don’t think labelling somebody as horrible is a sin lol. Hair & makeup people often see the worst side of celebrities. I don’t know why you are personally offended by this, it is just what I have been told from a VERY legitimate source (I don’t care I just love a bit of tea so have no reason to lie). Do with that information what you will, but I also don’t think it’s very far fetched, especially considering her reputation during her PussyCat Dolls days was far from glowing. My personal opinion is that I find her a bit pretentious in her demeanour but she’s got a powerhouse voice! Of course it's not a sin but just that sentence and what you just said about her... it is clearly an attempt to destroy her character, simply as that. and i'm not offended, but just as you have your right of a personal opinion, i also have my right to give a second opinion on that matter. no big deal. ‘Destroy her character’ 🤣🤣🤣. I have just seen that you are a super fan of hers so never mind, I don’t expect you to be able to see this from a non biased lense. |

I'm not a superfan and whilst I think 'destroy her character' might be extreem, I would say you seem to want to tarnish her character and good name. Revealing an insider opinion is not wanting to tarnish someone’s name. It is simply sharing information as this is a forum where all sorts of things are discussed 🤣 you can simply choose to believe it or not 😘 Was for those who might be interested to know an opinion held by someone who has worked with her.The last time I was on this thread I was praising the show and Nicole’s performance. Ah the joys of public persona vs private.
It would shock people to know how vile many people who trade off being the ‘nice guy’ truly are when the cameras aren’t on.
Many of them on daytime tv, and a few leading theatre actors are famously horrible to work with.
I’ve not heard any bad stories about NS by the way- and I know a few people working on Sunset. She’s bonkers- but not horrible, or so I’ve heard.

The “nicest guy”, legend that he is, is a very different person when in private. Whole different private life and personality than presented publicly over the decades.
Back to this show, I have several questions that perhaps the überfans could answer? (And I’m not being salty, I’d consider myself the equivalent for Next to Normal, or Les Mis, or Phantom pre-closure).
- Other than being a Jamie Lloyd trope, what was the meaning of lining up by the ensemble in the choreography?
- Other than being a Jamie Lloyd trope, what do the bare feet mean? I’ve seen it in every single show he’s done, but I’m wondering what it meant in this production.
- What was the meaning of the close ups of Artie/Max which seemingly came out of nowhere?
- Does Mr. Lloyd know that Apple Watches, iPads, the style of clothing worn and so on were not available in the period the show is set? Did they have a historical advisor for this production - I checked the credits online (I passed on a programme) - and didn’t spot anyone. Hence these oversights?
Yes, I’m being a touch fascetious with that last one, I’ve seen plenty of opera/Shakespeare with Hamlet set in office blocks or AIDA set in a drag club etc. I’m wondering why it just so happened that Lloyd’s vision for this piece coincidentally happened to involve creating the exact same aesthetic as he has used in the previous six things I’ve seen him direct. Very fortunate for him!
Finally regarding the sprouts debate. I was one of the cynics earlier in the thread who pointed out I probably wouldn’t enjoy this IF it featured all of Jamie Lloyd’s directorial choices repeated - again. When the rave reviews came out, from critics and on here, they described exactly what I predicted. No set, t-shirts, barefoot, people standing in lines, and a minimalist sensibility.
I was actually convinced by a couple of people to put my preconceptions aside, and try the sprouts again - because even if I hate sprouts, these are the most world class sprouts ever grown and if I don’t like these sprouts, I’ll never like any.
Well, sprouts are seriously not for me. They barely fill the plate on their own, taste the same every time and make me feel a bit nauseous afterwards.

It doesn’t have to have a meaning or be a metaphor for something else. As soon as I let go of trying to assign linear meaning to it, it all became a lot more enjoyable. |

Not sure how I missed seeing ticket prices increase to £300! I have the Christmas week off and thought I might take a day trip to London to see this one last time. Can’t really justify £400+ (with travel and expenses) to be honest, even though I’d love to catch this for a final time.

Does anyone know how the TodayTix lottery works for this? Does it just run Wednesday to Wednesday (as in, if you win that week can you only buy tickets for shows up until the Wednesday of the next week)?

When you entered the lottery, you could choose the performances in next week that you want to be in. And when you win it, you are given one specific performance. |

I don’t think the allocation is ever in the grand? It’s been mostly rear of the dress, which I’d say is a bargain considering how the show has sold recently.
I actually got Stalls M12 for Thursday afternoon, must have got very lucky with the singles they had available!

Just on my way back from seeing Rachel Tucker in tonight's show. Such a different, broken performance for her Norma. I agree with what has previously been said about both NS and RT bring different but bring equally great things to the roll.
Had to suffer a rowdy group in the audience behind me who clearly weren't enjoying or following the show. Having raided the bar, they were going to let it known their boredom. I suppose this is the problem with a "traditional" show being delivered in a non traditional way for members of the public who haven't got that memo.
Does anyone know if changes of lyrics in the show were for this production or have they been implemented since the last cast recording. "Every Movies a Circus", "Boy meets Girl" and others seems to have slightly different, slightly darker lyrics then what I remember and I swear the script Betty and Joe writes used to be "Blind Windows" rather then "Dark Windows". Obviously there is some added dialogue to fill in the gaps where the two missing songs were. Any ideas?

Yeah there was a couple near me that had ants in their pants and kept whispering to each other through the entire first act and then left at the interval. Their loss!
My only other interruption was the couple next to me who when it was the scene with the film screening and Young Norma’s face was on camera, the bloke leant over and stage-whispered “she’s meant to be the younger version!” and the woman with him replied loudly “yeah, I got it, thanks, shut up” which was quite funny to be fair.
Anyway. RT is an amazing Norma!!!! She was “my Elphaba” so I loved the picture Max had in his dressing room during the en’tracte. With that reminder fresh, it made me smile when soon after that she’s singing “watch me fly…..!”.
I think I do prefer NS in this production, by a whisker, but then it’s really been designed with her in mind hasn’t it. When I saw her she was just that bit more fragile/unhinged, although also parodying herself at times in a way that doesn’t translate to RT.
I saw NS towards the end of previews, and I wanted to come back more but my infrequent availability and the dynamic pricing going up and up has made it difficult, I do have a ticket to the closing night though which I’m so glad I nabbed - booked it on the way home from my first visit!!!
Jon Tsouras was very good as Max tonight, beautiful vocals, acted the tragedy well. Broke “character” a bit at curtain call but who can blame him!

I can’t buy her as Norma Desmond at all, and all the twerking and finger snapping is cheap and classless. Relieved I won’t have to hear her impression of a foghorn again during AIWNSG.

I originally booked for the 12th December but changed it when the Rodgers and Hammerstein concert was announced. So glad that happened before the dynamic pricing kicked in. I thought £87.50 was bad enough, but I think that would be in the £295 range now.

I saw this last week for the second time,first viewing early Nov. I preferred Scherz's earlier interpretation. This time she has gone into overdrive with all the antics, almost playing for laughs. That's what confidence does for you. What's with the extreme slowing down with the speech at times? |
