I struggle to consider CZJ as a “huge star”. She was last spotted selling towels on QVC. She still has huge celebrity cachet, trust me. CZJ would be an amazing choice. Ticks all the boxes of what could make a thrilling Norma. |

I will certainly attend Nicole, but I have zero interest in anything Jamie Lloyd related I'll be honest.

If it's really Nicole in no way would I consider her a "huge star". She's not on the same level as CZJ or Blanchett or even Waddingham and Williams imo.

Nicole feels like someone her people keep trying to make happen, but never really does. Mainly seems known these days for silly tiktoks with her BF and being permanently on holiday. But I think she has bigger name recognition than Hannah Waddingham or Vanessa Williams to the broader general public |

I remember thinking Nicole would have been perfect for “Moulin Rouge” but would seem just such an odd pick for Norma.
But I really do like her a lot so as odd as it seems, I’d still be there.

No, I don't think Nicole reads right for the part - much as I love her.
I would love to see Jamie Lloyd direct it. And no, it doesn't seem a long enough of a gap between the various presentations of it in the past few years. It feels too soon. So if they're going to do it again, it has to be something extra special in terms of casting.

People might start to recognise her face more, particularly after "Eurovish" but Ted Lasso is not a mainstream show in this country either. |

I'll believe this when I see something concrete.
We seem to get loads of amazing rumours on here that have no foundation or come to nothing.
However I'll be pleased if I'm wrong as I love this musical and if its CZJ I'm first in line to book.

CZJ has also developed a certain level of eccentricity in recent years (which we LOVE!!), and the fact she stepped back from acting until very recently (for "Wednesday") but had all but given up her successful film career of the 90's and early 2000's (I assume due to her bipolar disorder) does somewhat lean into the elusive/reclusive qualities of Norma herself.
She would be a wonderful fit in every respect.

Is Sunset a limited run or is planned to be open ended? At least 5 months is what I'm hearing though if it's successful then it could see an extension. 42ndBlvd seems very sure of this and I have also heard it from another friend so I am choosing to believe the rumor for now lol. 42ndBlvd - is the source of this rumor quote credible? |

Sounds fairly credible, but hopefully the talk of Nicole is just speculation. There are like a thousand better choices than her for this. She's great but she's not Norma. Satine in Moulin Rouge, absolutely.

I always think we lack ambition and sell ourselves short with the endless actress who can sing/singer who can act debate which Sunset threads are particularly fond of. Aim high - this needs a COMPLETE double threat who is an amazing singer AND an amazing actress. I refuse to believe there aren't such people out there. Nicole S is good but she did “oversing” Reflection at the Coronation Concert just to showcase her voice. When she did act and sing it as written it was beautiful. She has the talent but I hope she focuses on the acting if she is our Norma. |
