The kid who’s singing it must believe his version of the tune is better than ALW’s original. “This is boring, let’s riff it up and il get a chance to show off even more!”. I think it sounds awful. LOL - I think the bigger problem is ALW himself probably believes this version of the tune is better than his own original. He's at the Troubadour so often it's inconceivable he wouldn't have signed it off!

I’ve no doubt. We know how excited he can get when “the kids” are involved because he needs to remain current. But he can also make bad choices. Nevertheless I’m sure lots of people enjoy the updated approach. I’m just saying I don’t like it, I find it distracting and that it detracts from the song rather than adding to it.

But the 'kid' singing it got signed off by ALW and all the musical creatives and is beloved by his fans while you're just... light years away from the room where it happens, typing in an online forum, saying it's 'awful'...? Anyway light jabbing aside, keep in mind the sound for this trailer could well just be the live reference recording they made (to which the cast lip-synced while filming) and the actors were feeling fancy with the riffs that particular show- and the cast recording version is more to the score- let's be less disparaging about artists simply trying out new things until 8th Nov shall we?

I don't really care what’s on the cast recording because I’ll not be buying it.

Sadly I don't think you can be immune from the cast recording once it drops, it'll be shared and discussed everywhere and not least on this thread

The title song was similarly ‘riffed up’ in the 1990s recording, as I recall.

I do think Jeevan riffs far too much and it’s a bit distracting at times. He does have a lovely voice though and when I saw it on Thursday he was much improved in terms of his acting and overall performance. He nailed the Starlight Sequence. He really does give 100% every show. I just wish they’d cast a stronger Pearl. Her voice doesn’t suit the part and she still looks quite unsteady on her skates. Harrison and Jaydon are brilliant on their skates and are starting to experiment with jumps and tricks which is fun to watch.

To be fair, Jaydon is ex Bochum and has always been strong from the start with a bit of an advantage. I feel most of the cast are now used to skating. I do get what you mean about Kayna as Pearl, I have seen 5 times and the concern on her face sometimes. Then again, skating while singing, dancing and acting looks nerve-racking so who am I to judge.

I wonder if any of this cast will go to Bochum.

I've given this 4 stars. The venue was so immersive, it reminded me of Abba voyage.
I'm not a fan of kids singing, it's so high and screechy, but I get why they had a child as a narrative.
The show is really fun and camp, the skating is excellent (even though a train fell into the crowd!!)

(even though a train fell into the crowd!!) extra immersive (I've heard about this lol, was it during Momma's solo?)

Yes, I think so, it was one of the fuel trains, the blue one. Off the rails!
The usher leapt up to check they were okay, lawsuits flashing before their eyes.

Trains gone!
Is there a waiver you agree to when you buy a ticket, so you can't sue Andrew for a pool? Feel like he'd have that covered.

If this was last night, I think you had Sam Gallacher covering Lumber. At least, he was on for the matinee. I did mention the curse of the blue team before. The first race crash does always happen though and many of the ushers are trained actors (the quality of the American accents vary), so this may or may not have been intentional.

It was Friday.
Definitely not staged, he fell on top of the VIP carriage.

It was Friday. Definitely not staged, he fell on top of the VIP carriage. Ouch, well that may explain why the cover was on over the weekend. Assuming this was Harrison, quick recovery. I notice that Renz was still off this week as well, so the same applies to them.

I think he was alright after his derailment, as he was still on when I went yesterday

Pre-order CD is 17.99 on Amazon - bit much for a single disc release? More expensive than SB which is a double!

For those that are interested in the technical side of the Original London Production or just looking for a bit of nostalgia, I thought I'd share this deep dive article from this month's LSI Magazine (It is a Technical Production industry publication), hopefully this link works, it's a fun read.

I was thinking this the other day but could a West End Transfer like AV ever be conceived again. I always thought the Dominion Theatre could handle it. Maybe London Coliseum as well but I guess with H&S it couldn't be possible today?
I love the Troubadour does it job but man it could be so much more with more space.
I know ALW wants a World Tour of it and a Bochum style in Birmingham so maybe we will get a bigger version of this someday.
