The zoetrope vinyl is sadly something of a disappointment. Side A (the show logo) looks better when NOT moving and is just a blur when playing. Side B (coloured tracks) look OK I suppose but it's all unremarkable. Whole thing came in a see through flimsy very cheap looking plastic sheath and not even a proper card vinyl cover. With a sticker and tiny bit of blurb. Coupled with the fact someone has thought producing OLC highlights without Queen Lawrence's Only He was a good idea and the ludicrous price..... #DisappointedOfBrighton (And I say this as a die hard Starlight fan who would usually like any old Starlight tat!) Definitely glad I skipped out. Usually ALW is so good with all his associated vinyl releases but it being an OLC highlights wouldn't make it anything more than a collector's piece for me. Now, where's the Joseph and Evita box sets? |

ALW is really funny with rereleases, he randomly had a full 96khz/24bit remaster of the Evita London highlights made a year or two ago, as well as high quality remasters of many of Phantom's multi-language albums, but much of his catalogue is still weirdly missing a modern treatment, and he misses such great anniversary opportunities. The JCS Super Deluxe was definitely the last great release he's put out.

I really really hope there will be a new 2024 (complete) cast recording though London seems to make such a meal of these things I won't expect it any time soon! An OLC (and indeed a 1993 London) re-release would be nice too - though again I won't hold my breath. Yeah huge bugbear of mine that once RUG have recorded a UK production ALW show once, it's very unusual for them to do so again with so many revivals coming and going unrecorded. Ditto re-releases of the older stuff. That Evita totally passed me by! The EP version? Was it re-released!? Have the original CD of that version lol. |

The silver covered album (easily found in any charity shop across the land) is the Elaine Paige recording.

That Evita totally passed me by! The EP version? Was it re-released!? Have the original CD of that version lol. The silver cover with Elaine Paige. I don't think it was reissued but was a digital release.
ALW reserves vinyl rereleases for the bigger releases seemingly.
