No idea, but all of the click tracks used in performance are fairly produced and well mastered, and the sound is pretty top-notch across the board. A new cast recording would fit ALW's vision of it being the "ultimate" iteration of Starlight or whatever he said if he wants to tour it and wants material already out there.
We'll wait and see about it. A live cast recording could be made I suppose.

Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a single of Hydrogen but Jaydon Vijn seems to be implying there's been a recording session for something on tiktok and in his Instagram stories. https://www.tiktok.com/@jay.vijn/video/7413700370607770913

May have already been mentioned earlier in this 65 page thread, but - any idea if there is a London cast recording in the works? Patiently we wait..... No announcement yet!

Interesting. Definitely doesn't sound like the arrangement in the show so unlikely from an OLC. Would they make a single of this? Whilst I love it in the theatre, it's basically just a couple of phrases that denote the character so just don't know if there is enough material for a standalone single. It works inserted into other passages in the score. Nice to hear it though :-)

For the newest song in a 40-year-old musical, that is quite the accomplishment.

Don't know about the kids, but I know for a fact I've been humming it for 2 days straight since I saw the show the other day

Yes, definitely a different arrangement, but maybe a single or cast concept recording whatever is on the cards that doesn't strictly follow the show. The lyrics heard there are usually split up between the different cars but instead it's just sung by solely Hydra.
ALW's always said about how he wants the soundtrack to sound like music nowadays, so maybe they're not putting out a cast album per se but instead what's more of a highlights album, with the songs as more standalone pop songs rather than what's strictly in the score.

Yes indeed this. I wish they’d do both! Like the wild Whistle Down The Wind era. I’m still shook by Bonnie Tyler’s seminal rendition of Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts.

The costume and fan art end of the fandom are also Hydra obsessed! (Happy to eat my hat as at first show I thought it was gonna end up with the usual “ALW’s desperate to be down with the kids” negativity tsunami).

Currently sat Row T in Locomotive - wow... never sat this far back for this show. You lose the immersive sound design back here and it's pretty unforgiving if the vocals are any less than 100%. Fortunately, Momma, Greaseball, Rusty, Pearl are absolutely nailing it. One or two sound tired. Definitely won't sit this far back again - feels like a different show back here.

Yes, those seats are completely out of the way of the show. Was the same for Newsies which had so many seats at the back.
Really the back most seats should end at about 8/10 rows in... Wonder why they'd do this because sitting that far back compromises the entire immersive draw of the sh-

I wouldn’t even know how to begin describing Starlight Express to someone totally new to the show. I’d never seen a previous iteration, nor the Bochum production, but the best I can come up with for this latest version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s psychedelic locomotive musical is Thomas the Tank Engine meets Eurovision. It’s absolutely wild - and I loved every second of the madness.
Being the most I’ve ever forked out for a theatre ticket, I was expecting a spectacle and director Luke Sheppard certainly delivered on that front. Watching on from Row E of Platform 1, the whole piece is a relentless attack on the senses and the staging is totally thrilling.
The plot is a simple one. A young boy, who we only know as ‘Control’ (played superbly by Cristian Buttaci) is dreaming about trains racing each other. The company of what appeared to be almost entirely graduates were great, although I would have appreciated a few older faces for variety/diversity in the narrative.
Kayna Montecillo (Pearl) was excellent, as I knew she would be having seen her in ArtsEd’s production of Rent earlier this year. The first class carriage’s positivity and optimism shone through and I cannot get ‘I Am Me’ out of my head days later. Eve Humphrey was also great as Dinah, the dining coach, one of the few characters with genuinely layered charisma.
Hydra’s number proved to be a real highlight and Jaydon Vign did the role justice, while Jade Marvin displayed her wonderful vocal range as Momma. The whole cast worked their rollerskates off. But Starlight is all about the spectacle at the end of the day.
The way the creative team have transformed the Wembley Park Theatre is mighty impressive. I loved it for Newsies but the track weaving in and out of the various seating blocks creates a really special, immersive experience. Gareth Owen’s sound design is super loud (unlike Newsies!) but it seemed appropriate, given the bombastic nature of the show.
My only criticism would be Richard Stilgoe’s lyrics set to ALW’s compositions. For the most part, they do the job but can appear a little glib in places. But, for the sheer magnitude of this production, it is an easy five stars from me. Comfortably one of the best revivals of the year.

After a fortnight away, I managed to get a rush ticket for the 13:00 performance yesterday (Sunday). This was more of an ordeal than normal and I nearly decided I'd go to Cake instead, but glad I persevered. A great seat in First Class Carriage 1.
Loads of covers on for the matinee, but not reported anywhere. Most importantly, Scott Hayward was on as Rusty, and I haven't managed to catch one of his shows for a while.
I had a nice chat with the Australian chap next to me who was on his final night of a three month tour of Europe, and this was what he'd decided on for his final show. A great choice.
There was a crash in Race 1 on the upward slope with Blue Lightning and Lumber going down, then various people going down behind them, or stopping. Luckily no one was hurt and they managed to get everyone back in the same order. I think it must be the curse of Blue Lightning, who has been involved in every Race 1 mishap I've seen (but I believe with a different skater each time).
I'd better not leave it so long before next time!

First time I’ve seen a crash in one of the races - very relieved to see them all get back up and carry on. Was pleased I finally got to see a Scott show. I’ve noticed the reporting of covers has been a bit more hit and miss this week. I went Thursday because I’d seen there were definitely going to be a couple of covers on, but there were lots more (mostly the same as Sunday).

It sounds like the album's been done and done for a while, but the release had been postponed so as to not interfere with the Sunset cast recording release. Also this isn't a rumour I've heard but my own speculation, but the social media account posted a suspicious-looking "favourite song" post which looks like a tracklist in all honesty http://instagram.com/p/C_lUF22NjaY
