Couldn't find a thread for this (maybe it's on the musicals section, but it's technically a play!) so thought I'd start this as a continuation from TheatreForum:
Audra McDonald to make her West End debut as Billie Holiday in the London transfer of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, at the Wyndham's Theatre for 10 weeks only, 25th June - 3rd September 2016.

Haven't booked yet but will definitely go and see this. Planning to catch her on Broadway in April too.

Audra is excellent. She will take the roof off the Wyndham.

Have caved and bought a ticket up in the Balcony for this. Part of me wonders if being up close would work much better for it and wonder if it was the best venue choice but the buzz on here (and the old forum...) has me intrigued.

I found this this morning. Audra as Billie Holiday singing a song from the Broadway musical Hamilton. It's so good; I love how Audra completely gets into character. Must have watched it about 10 times today. Can't wait for Lady Day.

Are they holding tickets back for this, or has it already sold really well? Was hoping for a decent seat in the stalls, but not much available.

First full row is Row L, I think because of the staging... it's not done on a traditional stage but as a bar that the audience sits around. So I think the "stage" will fill quite a few of the rows further forward. I checked the other day and not many tickets have sold since they first went on sale, surprisingly.

Why on earth has this title never been shortened, e.g. simply to "Lady Day"? Who on earth would want to keep pronouncing, or typing, that mouthful? Good thing fewer people book by 'phone now!

Audra: So long, ‘Along’?
Britannia’s stiff upper lips are saying Audra McDonald, “Shuffle Along” star, may shuffle along. Not to the West End, where she was to star in “Lady Day.” Terrific, ab-fab Audra didn’t grab this year’s Tony. But maybe Audra (Mrs. Will Swenson) maybe has her own Tony or Gloria or whoever on the way??
Looks like Audra may no longer be coming over due to her rumored pregnancy?

As in, the show may not happen?...

But what a lovely reason to have to back out of a show.

Delfont Mackintosh site now says 'performances postponed'. Has anyone spoken to them?

Given how active she is on Twitter I reckon she would have denied it by now if it didn't have any element of truth
