It was a weak week from many of them. Rosie didn't deserve 2nd in the technical. They should have saved the double elimination for now - as too many of them fell short.

My favourites have gone, Michael and Henry, both adorable guys. I am now all starry eyed over David.

No he was sweet and quite amusing. Sad to see him go. Hopefully David will make something amazing and win the whole thing but I think it will be Steff.

Steff winning would be so boring
I can only think that her food tastes amazing - as it is often quite pedestrian in terms of ambition/originality
I can't imagine buying her cookbook - but David at least offers something different each time.

Most of the winners are pretty boring though, aren't they? Nadiya, John and Candice were the only memorable ones really. I suspect it'll be Steff.
And Henry was adorable. Loved him.

Recently watched the Nadiya series on UK Cooking Gold or some other satellite channel. I'm not so sure Nadiya was a personality going through the rounds. She was very timid and could have been voted out a couple of times. Definitely blossomed as a winner.

Henry is hilarious. Has a great personality that could be used to his advantage afterwards. We have not really had a baker that you truly remember since Nadia. All the rest have been quite forgettable. Plus he dresses up to bake. You appear to have forgotten the beautiful but bonkers Ruby from a few years ago. How I loved her ❤️

Just watched Henry on extra slice. Ahhhhhh he is adorable, even playing the theme tune on his organ.

I’m sure we’ll be seeing Henry and his singular personality on tv very soon. 🙄

Given that Henry is dating Alice, perhaps they will become a baking power couple

Ahhhhhh he is adorable, even playing the theme tune on his organ. Good trick if you can do it, I guess. And it was quite impressive.

Given that Henry is dating Alice, perhaps they will become a baking power couple Or even a baking powder couple? That is what I typed first time - by mistake But as it seems that they are not a couple, that particular souffle has collapsed (quite how he could put up with Alice, I really don't know - she irritates me with her laugh and general demeanour!)

Plus....Henry's gay, right? I mean I have nothing to base that on, other than looking at him (no offence intended, in fact it would be great if he's on our team!)

What a weak semi-final.
I wouldn't have awarded a star baker. I don't think any of them deserved it.
And the judging was bizarre. The main difference between David and Steph's showstopper was that she finished hers with a mirror glaze and a macaron and he finished his with piping. They were both, essentially, a stack of cake.
I don't believe it when they say it will be the strongest final ever. It has been a pretty mediocre series in terms of quality bakes this year.
AND... no-one does a stacked St Honore like that. No-one

what was the point of the window thing? Nobody baked a cake I wanted to eat.

Like too much on this show, there was no point in the window thing. Or the double-layer Honore.
They keep upping the ante and making things ridiculous.
It is why, after many years of coming close to getting on the show, I am not going to try again. I am fed up with unrealistic time-scales and made-up challenges that don't reflect the realities of baking.

I see that they are bringing back Junior Bake Off on C4. It’ll be interesting to see if they up the ante on that too. Young has watched every series on CBBC and would fit in with that kind of standard, and wants to apply. I’ve said we will watch the new series and then decide

Apparently I didn't have enough hot water crust experience..
