Last night at Wyndhams there was a serious medical emergency with an audience member, causing the first act to be stopped for almost an hour. The FOH staff dealt with it really well, striking a balance between caring for the patient until the paramedics arrived and keeping the rest of the audience informed. Luckily there were a few doctors in the house who assisted the FOH staff. After a short period of requesting that we remain in our seats, they decided to open the bars and toilets and explained that they would use the bells to inform us when we needed to be back in our seats. It also struck me that the audience was incredibly calm, especially those immediately close to the poor chap, with no panic or "shocked" reactions. I know we can be quick to complain about poor FOH but they deserved nothing but praise last night.

I was there too, and even before the show started, I was thinking about how efficient and friendly the FOH staff were. Whoever the house manager at the Wyndham's is, they should be extremely proud of their team last night. (I don't know about where you were, littlesally, but our nearest usher assured us that the stricken gentleman was awake and responsive, so hopefully that means he's going to be okay. Fingers crossed for him!)

Fingers crossed for him!) We were in stalls F6-7. The incident was a few rows in front an at the other end. The ushers kept us updated and informed but really protected the man's privacy.

Good to hear. It seems more and more that many West End theatres look smarter, and the service from the front of house staff improves to give us an all round enjoyable evening out.
Unlike the usher at the Palladium last night. Some sort of problem behind us during the introduction to one of Il Volo's most popular songs. Usher starts bellowing at the top of her voice, causing a huge disruption for all around her. During the last song the same usher decided she should walk down the aisle and block everyone's view while she attempted to stop someone taking photographs. (This frustrated school prefect obviously didn't notice almost half the audience filming the entire show.)

Have to say the staff at the two ATG houses in Manchester are almost universally lovely. There was a marked change in approach dating from around two years ago. Don't know if there's been some sort of customer service programme going on at ATG but it's been very noticeable.

I've generally always had good experiences, my interaction with FOH is usually quite minimal though to be fair other than the standard ticket checking and maybe buying a programme. The only experience i didn't like was at Drury Lane where the lad who checked my ticket seemed to find it highly unusual and confusing that i was on my own and made me feel really awkward. I then passed him on the way outside at the interval and he stopped me and said if I'm going outside I need my ticket to show on the way back in.......though he nor any of the other FOH told anyone else this and then indeed I didn't have to show it at all on the way back in. It seemed like he was a bit fascinated by me, but in a bad way. I didn't like the experience at all.

I was very impressed by one of the ushers at the Criterion this evening. The ladies loos had run out of soap & I have OCD & get very stressed if I can't wash my hands properly so I went & asked if there were alternative loos anywhere. Never having actually sat in the upper circle there I didn't know if there were any up there. It turns out there aren't but the usher personally escorted me to the disabled loo, which is tucked away down a corridor, when I explained & was absolutely lovely about it. Brilliant customer service.

How do you feel about those handbag friendly anti bacterial hand sanitisers? Useful at times but not as good as proper soap & water. Also if I don't know in advance that I'll need it, as per yesterday, then I don't want to be rummaging in my handbag for the bottle when my hands aren't clean.
