Glad you enjoyed your first show! I saw Beauty and the Beast last week again and I loved it, I think it's a great show and My Fair Lady is fantastic as well! I had similar experience with The Coliseum staff on Thursday when I saw it, my other half and I are directionally challenged and went the wrong way. While I wouldn't say the staff member who redirected us was rude, it did feel like we were naughty students being sent to the Headmaster's office...

I go alone to 90% of the many shows I see every month.
The only time I ever felt a little self-conscious was at Mrs Henderson Presents in my usual (front row stalls) seat. Surrounded by men almost all of a certain age and mostly wearing raincoats on a dry sunny day. I fear the couples and ladies sitting behind us thought the worst of us....
( re above post I think the Coliseum is poorly signposted internally and I walked round in a circle from the box office before finding the entrance to the stalls)

You walk into a theatre and its dry, you come out and its pouring down. Those raincoats come in very handy. 😀

I've always wondered if the Colliseum staff are just down on musicals and snobbish. I remember telephoning them about Sunset Boulevard and the person I spoke to made a fairly sarcastic comment about showtunes. It's a shame, but I'm guessing putting on musicals is what's keeping their whole operation financially viable so it would be nice if they were a bit more friendly.
But so glad to hear your first visit was a success! It took me a while to get used to going by myself but I'm immune to feeling funny about it years later. I always told myself the ones going alone are far less sad (not that they are sad at all) than all the ones who are sitting at home, wishing they were brave enough to go!
