This is so much fun. The best I think that I'm going to see this week
Action packed in a Spanish carnivals setting
Joseph Millson commands the stage with charisma as the Rover
There's so many great characters to follow performed with zeal by the cast
And there lies the only problem which is that the play has to many characters to give a story to
Faye Castelow could easily match Joseph Millson as the loveable Hellena but then she melds into the background for 15-20 minutes

Maybe I can squeeze it into my January trip. Where have you sat? How is the side view in the stalls? Is it played more to front or equally to both sides?

Well I must admit there's a sub plot concerning this snivelling English chap, Blunt being tricked by a courtesan which was both laughable and sad by the end of the first act Then he comes back in one scene and takes a dark turn that feels out of place and goes nowhere because the character is never threatening Which I think is a testament to how overloaded this play feels at times. Faye Castelow only gets to shine in the first act unfortunately. Hope I see her in a meatier part Still there is so much to enjoy. Joseph Millson milks every drop of comedy he can find, sending some cast members corpsing. There's a fantastic stand off in the first act and the music is sensational Recommended |

Good fun. Aphra Behn went through a brief spell of popularity ifn the 1980s, there are a few of her plays worth reviving. |

Just back from seeing this and thoroughly enjoyed it, I haven't laughed so much in ages. Joseph Millsom was excellent as Willmore and the scene with him, Faye Costelow and Alexandra Gilbreath in the second half was hilarious with the corpsing, deliberate or not, taking over. Don't leave it till the last minute to go in as the musicians are playing some time before it starts and are well worth listening to.

Adored this. Loved the atmosphere and music. One of the ushers w cas dancing away! Joseph Millson was brilliant and I liked Faye Castelow too. Also loved Frances McNamee Who was also in Kinsmen. Seen her in a few things now and she's always been great.

Saw this on sat night. Excellent production, Millson is superb as is the sublime Alex Gilbreath. Should have life after Feb when its run finishes😀

Just back from a double bill of this and Seven acts of Mercy. sadly, this suffered for me as I was on the front row for Mercy and was truly overwhelmed by its' power and emotion and having so much to think about. For Rover I was up in a hideously uncomfortable seat in the front of the second gallery and didn't feel part of the party, but I did sit there applauding how inventive and kinetic they all were, and yes joseph Millson is pretty special. Patrick O'Kane in seven acts is even more than pretty special. Wow what a dark but satisfying play. Truth to tell I was still pondering seven acts during Rover, so maybe there's a lesson. Perhaps I should have seen them in the reverse order.
