Can't believe I missed both occasions to see Mr Schwartz. Is he attending any other events in London? Not that I'm aware of. He did say he was only passing through London on the way to checking out various European production he's involved with (including the new staging of Wicked in Germany).

There'll now be magic to do until 3 October as Pippin extends at the Charing Cross Theatre!

This was filmed tonight with the goal of releasing it for streaming. Didn't really appreciate the producer requesting we give the show a standing ovation before we'd even heard a single note - it felt extremely disingenuous when everyone did. This is a talented cast, with great vocals all round, but it just felt like it was missing something. Not sure what, exactly - possibly just atmosphere. A full house might have felt better. Also to second something that's already come up - the balcony seats are a complete joke. They literally face away from the stage. I was in seat 8 and it would have been tolerable, but in seat 1 you may as well have just sat out in the bar and listened through the door. Luckily they moved me downstairs just before it started, and then further forward because they were trying to make the house look full for the recording :')
