Martin Guerre (London version). Les Miserables was OK but I found it dragged a bit and had altogether too many moany characters.

Quite underrated but The Pirate Queen has a few lovely ballads

‘Martin Guerre’ for me. So many beautiful melodies and the orchestrations were sublime.

This is going to be between Saigon and Les Miserables.
Marguerite should be in the survey also.

The music in Marguerite was by Michel Legrand.
For me, it's Les Mis followed by Miss Saigon.

I haven't seen them all let alone heard anything from Pirate Queen. But Les Miz is the best I've seen.
Saigon could be stronger if the lyrics weren't so cringe

So little love for Martin Guerre So many gorgeous orchestrations and songs. The lighting was beautiful too as I remember. The original cast version was fab and then for some reason they never stopped tinkering with it? I wonder whether it’ll ever come back. I’d love to see it again.

Martin Guerre, every day of the week. By a mile. Their finest work.

Lol The original story was good. But then for some reason B&S thought that audiences wouldn't understand the idea of conflict between Catholics and Protestants (Really? That's like half of European history) and replaced it for the tour with some weird nonsense about how God was angry and punishing half of France because Bertrande wasn't getting any. And then they set everything on fire to pre-empt the audience.
London production: best they've ever done. Tour: not so much.

Don’t get me started on the tour...they spent so much time getting it right for the West End, won the best new musical Olivier then scrapped most of it just keeping the tunes. Sure that set wasn’t ‘tourable’ but gah!

Les Miserables.
The rest is sexist rubbish populated by whiny girlies who need a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan and can't do anything without a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.
Not that Les Mis is better, but at least they can blame Victor Hugo for those whiny girlies.

There were heavy hints that CM was going to workshop it in 2020 in readiness for a run at a regional theatre. I think we were speculating about The Curve or The Crucible?
