Hope Mill is not the easiest place to find without a smart phone / google map for guidance so glad I allowed plenty of time to walk from the Travelodge. No signposting at all even when very close. My list of roads to take, which usually gets me where I want to go, hit several stumbling blocks because a lot of roads in Manchester don't have the usual street signs. Anyway I'm here now, front row, should be a good'un. How was the show FrontroverPaul ? Very enjoyable. The whole cast worked their proverbials off and I found it more entertaining than the version shown on TV not long ago. Hope Mill was far from full though which is disappointing so early in the run.

Cancelled today, they emailed 5 minutes after I paid £50 for a train. Luckily the cancellation came through 1 minute before I boarded the train and I got a refund. Such a shame as next weekend is all sold out now, but hopefully it'll transfer 🤞

Five more chances to catch the stream of this from Friday 28th and matinee/ evening on the weekend. Found it enjoyable home evening entertainment the great cast and clever staging overcomes the weakness of the book and score but did find a couple of songs which match ease on down the road and brand new day songs which were the only two I ever repeated played from the vinyl double album. May even try and watch the movie version one day if it ever pops up on tv Hope mill theatre proving again there is an inventive and lively theatre business outside the west end.

Really hope this comes to London. Loved it on the big night of musicals.

To those who've watched the stream, when did you get the link to watch it? I booked a ticket for this evening last night but I still haven't got any kind of link so I guess it's an hour before, but just wanted to make sure nothing's gone wrong.
Edit: nevermind, checked their Twitter and it's half an hour before. Hate when they leave it so late to send the link for stuff like this, always makes me so paranoid.

Really hope this comes to London. Loved it on the big night of musicals. It appears like the rights holders are blocking a WE transfer in favour of a future BWAY transfer that doesn’t exist 😳

Am watching this stream now and can’t say I’m loving it - I know the show quite well having done it a couple of times and am a huge fan of the NBC Wiz Live recording from a few years ago. For me, the choreo is great and I like the concept but the execution isn’t there for me - the weird mix of accents (particularly Dorothy being RP with her dialogue still maintaining the African American dialect) makes the whole thing seem a bit to amateurish for my taste. The vocals are also lacking somewhat although I do wonder how much is down to the audio mixing for the stream which is a bit all over the place. I’m hoping it’s one of those things that you need to be in the space for - after all, if I wanted a filmed production of the Wiz I should probably stick with the NBC one - you can’t beat the voices of Amber Riley and Queen Latifah! (Probably comes across better due to budget and being designed for filming no doubt).

Caught the stream this evening and just wanted to say how much I liked the set! It’s not a musical I know much about, but I really enjoyed it!
