Performance of a play written by Georgina Barley, parts of which appear to have been first performed at the Cockpit Theatre in 2018. Directed by Helen Tennison and featuring Barley herself in the role of Sarah, a heart transplant patient, who has (SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT) received the heart of her surgeon Maggie's (Lesley Ann Acheson) ex-boyfriend.
The play centres first around the feelings, real or imagined, which a traumatic physical change can generate and then explores the powerplay in a triangle between two - donor, recipient and surgeon - coming up with conclusions which are perhaps not as obvious as they might seem. A decently written play.
Originally scheduled for April but forcibly postponed - because coronavirus - Barley has condensed her original full-length play into a compact one-hour piece which is well-acted and well worth watching.
