I've just come back from seeing an encore showing of A View from the Bridge in the cinema and even though I saw it in the theatre last year I was still knocked for six by it. Having only been in the upper levels in the theatre I found that having such a close up view enabled me to see the expressions so much more, especially those of Mark Strong. At the end I felt as though I'd been punched in the stomach. So pleased that NT Live repeated it.

Stunning wasn't it? So raw, and just shows that the best theatre is stripped of all clutter. Loved the lack of anything literal, no furniture, no plates, no period detail, just raw human drama and metaphor. The appearance of one pair of shoes, among all those bare feet, was devastating. The literal really has no place in theatre. Our audience tonight just sat there in silence for a good ten minutes. stunning lighting....everything.

Mark Strong's performance was just exceptional, a wonderful production.
