She is most definitely retired now but still incredible. Only from stage work - currently to be seen in BBC One's Gold Digger - playing Alex Jenning's mother. |

For any that haven’t had the pleasure of her definitive Mrs Lovett (sorry Imelda) then you can listen to it on the audio player here. Also worth every second for Barry James’ Beadle Bamford - who took scene stealing to new glorious heights. Downloadable there as well. Saw the production when it moved to the Lyttleton. Vividly remember her with her chopper (those cats are quick)!!!!! |

Julia is 78 now and after her husband passed away last year, I can see why she wouldn't want to do stage work. But I've yet to check out Gold Digger and her being in it will be a nice bonus.
Growing up seeing her as a regular on TV it was only in later years I found out her forte was on the stage.
