I can't honestly see this being back next year, considering it was very easy to pay little or nothing for great seats.

Where were the great deals for this? I hadn't seen that many. I paid £79 for middle Row C of the stalls, which was actually a great view but I sure didn't see that many bargains, and the Rush tickets on TodayTix were alright rather than brilliant.

fully preferred the Broadway version over this... I was really hoping for the same energy. Disappointing. the pitfalls of going to see a [new production of an old] show with very fixed Preconceptions 😂

They'll put the train in storage so Eva can get off the train in Buenos Aires

I had £15 stalls seats through twice and comps through twice as well - so they were definitely out there.

well it looks like parts of the set are being sold…so probably unlikely this will come back There was a set? 😂 (joking) It would have been a madness to bring this back considering how it didn’t sell out, and a lot of papering. It must have shocked them that they were having to paper even weekend performances. And all this on a 10 week run. What would have happened had it done 4-6months, as initially anticipated?

Considering it was for the Adelphi originally which is a little bit smaller than the Palladium I think it would've been fine in that sized a theatre with the demand it drew.
The pandemic I think took a lot of wind out of the hype for this. It did take 4 years to get here!

Baz Bamigboye has just tweeted that the show sold just under £1.3 million worth of tickets in the last week over 8 performances, a record for a musical at the Palladium.

It’s a good reminder that anecdotal evidence of papering and discounts on a fan forum is not in fact any accurate representation of how the vast majority of the public acquire tickets.
The Palladium is massive. You can not sell out and give some seats away and still take a huge amount of money.

Your point has some validity BVM, but it also did seemingly very well in its closing week only (as lots of shows are doing - Next To Normal hasn't done all that well for the majority of its run but it sold out for its final week - and Next to Normal too had lots of good offers available (publicly and via mailing lists) in order to make it fuller than it was), so I don't think we should disregard that either. Whilst the palladium may have been very full and has seemingly done very good business in its final week, that doesn't mean that it was the same for the other 9 and there will have been a good portion of that audience, particularly in the week, who will not have been there at full price.

I think yes and no really. The last week may well have seen a surge. And we all may have plenty of friends who go on deals and know where to find them. But the majority of the theatre going public don't care if it's the last week, won't be in papering clubs or know where to find deals. (Though yes, many may be e-mailed directly).
Like all online areas, experiences on here are very much within a bubble and we do overgeneralise too much (IMHO).
Sometimes I think publication of grosses would be useful. Then I remember how poisonous and vitriolic people are about them on BWW and I feel relieved we don't have them!

So much for the rumours that Dolly was coming back to the Palladium next year.

Is Evita definitely confirmed to be there then? According to the Lord, yes. I guess it would make sense given it’s his flagship theatre and all…

So much for the rumours that Dolly was coming back to the Palladium next year. The papering and missed sales targets secured its solo run unfortunately. I do think everyone who wanted to see it got to see it this summer though, so I’m less sad about it not returning.

Yes, considering I sent 14 people on comps on Saturday nights across the run, I can't imagine this made all that much money to warrant it coming back.
