I clearly have VERY little interest in The Lion King After the first ten minutes everyone has very little interest in The Lion King.

Lion King. I detest Mamma Mia but nobody goes on about how it's this amazing spectacle, it's just...Mamma Mia. Whereas Lion King gets hyped like crazy and then when I finally gave in and went...meh. Just...meh.

Matilda. I haven't seen it, and haven't the slightest desire to, and all the occasional excerpts that have cropped up on TV have reinforced that feeling.
I have seen all the others mentioned, so if I had to choose one of those, it would be the Lion King.

Could the Gillian Lynne be a potential venue for a new Groundhog Day Starlight Express would be good in there too... That would be one short race track That said, I'd take it, if it means getting Starlight Express back... I voted Mamma mia, btw, not because I like it less than other shows on this list, but simply because it could go on touring forever and doesn't necessarily need a West End theatre. Les Mis, Phantom and Lion King feel more like they belong in Theatreland.

I imagine ALW is going to put his Cinderella musical in the GL although if that's not ready, perhaps a play like To Kill a Mockingbird could come in

It’s slightly different shape make it ideal for ‘Starlight’. They could get away with not having ‘track’ if they keep a slightly thrust stage and a cracking set / deserted stage. I think it’s time, even if just for a limited run.

Perhaps he's thinking of bringing it back anyway and the workshop/concert was a tester

Could the Gillian Lynne be a potential venue for a new Groundhog Day? Don't think so. The show would need a complete redesign from a production perspective as the flys/stage aren't right for the show - the GL is more thrust than proscenium. I think producers are waiting for the right venue with a more intimate feeling also., GL is quite an exposed auditorium, if that makes sense. As much as I wasn't that much of a fan of the film, I do keep saying a stage adaption of Greatest Showman would be great there. But what I know haha.

Get Mamma Mia gone. Sorry, it's just so dated. Chuck, it into the new Wembley park theatre or put it next to the new Mamma Mia restaurant. There really is no need for it to be clogging a WE house in 2019 sadly. It's a fun show, but needs somewhere else!
Tbf any of these shows could go and I would be *that* upset. I have great memories of Les Mis but it's technically leaving this July (or June, might be wrong). I love Matilda but again shows close eventually. Phantom, again, feels dated. A magical show, with that soaring orchestra and big chandelier, but it's done well! Wicked could bow gracefully now, but it still does well on weekends and at half terms. Haven't seen it in person, but a mate of mine was there last Monday and said the stalls were half empty! Lion King is phenomenal and is playing to full houses every single night, and still charging full price! Rare to see a discount! So I doubt things will slow anytime soon.
Also, thank god School of Rock is going, talented cast but my god I hated the show. Will be excited about what's next for the GL!
Would love to see some new British theatre take the place of these, I say 10 years and at least 3 will be replaced with new long British runners!
Begging for transfer of:
Flowers for Mrs Harris Romantics Anynomous Standing on the Sky's Edge
any more to add?
