won't be rushing back to see this unless it goes back to the original version, not the lewd sexist version last toured. I actually agree with this... i loved the original version!!

I love that WOS credit the crew and band. Respect.

I’ve just had this and am confused as I booked for 23/09/21 at Wimbledon. Did they mean to send it to people who booked for last year or whatever?

Selling terribly in Liverpool. I've never seen it but just had a look at the soundtrack and there are some boss tunes on there. Not sure if I should save my pennies and see something else.

The music is great and it used to be a fun show in London but the last tour felt very cheap and highlighted its weaknesses. It's a entertaining night out for a bargain but I wouldn't pay a lot to see it.

There's a Travelzoo offer for RoA in Liverpool, saving, they claim, up to 42%.
Use promo code: TZOO
Whether that makes it a bargain, or beats any other offers, I don't know.

Wow, just looked at availability for next week and it really is selling dreadfully in Liverpool. Magic Goes Wrong which is at the Liverpool Empire this week is faring little better. I went to the last Rock of Ages tour with very low expectations but ended up really enjoying it. The new narrator has big shoes to fill from Lucas Rush.

Just got back from tonight’s viewing at the Liverpool Empire. Having a late curtain up tonight by 20 minutes due to some technical issues, overall, I enjoyed the show but ii didn’t get that buzz from it compared to when I saw the original in the WE which I absolutely loved and had a few revisits during its run there. Certainly, the audience in the Empire tonight was strangely subdued and well behaved. Normally I’d expect some uninvited sing along moments from the audience but nothing tonight except a bit of a clap along every now and then. Even at the end, there wasn’t many of us on our feet dancing to “Don’t Stop Believing” until near the end.
Set wise, this really was done on the cheap. Gone is the Garrick staging and replaced by a few bits and pieces whilst still keeping the video screen. I think losing that WE set really doesn’t do this production any favours. It wasn’t a massive set to begin with but at least it helped with the narrative.
Where this production does work for me is the cast. Whilst Simon Lipkin for me has been the best “Lonny” I’ve seen, Joe Gash does a great job in moving the narrative along and getting plenty of laughs from the audience. As for the others, I was really impressed by Kevin Clifton. This is the first time I’ve seen him in a show and he didn’t disappoint. Luke Walsh and Rhiannon Chesterman as Drew and Sherrie worked well together and Gabriella Williams and Andrew Carthy’s rendition of “Hit me with your best shot” a standout moment along with Joe Gash and Ross Dawes singing “I Can’t Fight This Feeling”. Though for me it’s Jenny Fitzpatrick as Justice that won me over. A belting voice. Reading in the programme she has played Tina Turner in the WE and having heard her tonight, I’d have loved to have heard her in that show.
A great score of fantastic rock songs delivered by the cast and the 5 piece band.
Having got a cheap ticket using my ATG card in the front stalls, a pleasant night out at the theatre, but a version of this show that wouldn’t get a repeat viewing from me unfortunately.

Feel sorry for the cast looking at the ticket sales for this tonight and tomorrow night. The front centre block of the stalls is maybe 30% full, the rest of the theatre pretty much empty.

That's just how it goes on tours. One night you'll be performing to 1000 people, the next you can be performing to 100. They don't need your sympathy.

The restart of this tour has been put back to April - was supposed to be this week. But now appears to be running to May 2023 so they are rescheduling those dates missed.
